Tactical Story

Lyon lined up in their usual 4-3-3, with the front three interchanging positions constantly to drag Le Havre’s defence out of shape. The midfield trio dominated possession, and the full-backs overlapped at every opportunity, creating overloads on the wings. Le Havre attempted to press high, but they were repeatedly undone by Lyon’s quick passing and movement. Defensively, Le Havre struggled with Lyon’s set-pieces and could not cope with the speed of the visitors’ counter-attacks. Lyon’s pressing was also relentless, forcing errors deep in Le Havre’s half.

Standout Performers

Lyon’s centre-forward was unstoppable, scoring a hat-trick and linking play beautifully. The attacking midfielder pulled the strings, providing two assists and scoring a brilliant solo goal. On the wings, Lyon’s pace caused havoc, with both wide players scoring and assisting. For Le Havre, their goalkeeper was left exposed and made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, while their goalscorer provided the one bright moment on a difficult afternoon.

Season Impact

This emphatic victory sends a clear message to the rest of the French Division 1 Feminine: Lyon remain the team to beat. The three points keep them at the top of the standings and extend their goal difference significantly. For Le Havre, it is a harsh lesson, but they will need to regroup quickly to avoid a slide down the table. The head-to-head record between the two sides now makes for painful reading for the home team, who will be glad to see the back of Lyon until the reverse fixture.
