Tactical Story

Strasbourg II lined up in a 4-3-3 and looked to dominate the midfield with quick, short passes. Their full-backs provided width, allowing the wingers to drift inside and create overloads. Sochaux II, meanwhile, were more direct, using long balls to their physical striker. The visitors' equaliser came from a set-piece, an area where Strasbourg II looked vulnerable. However, Strasbourg II's persistence paid off, and their late winner came from a rare moment of penetration through the middle.

Standout Players

Strasbourg II's central midfielder was the engine of the team, scoring the winner and dictating the tempo throughout. The left winger was a constant threat with his dribbling and hit the post. For Sochaux II, their centre-back was solid defensively and scored the equaliser, while their goalkeeper made a string of fine saves to keep his side in the game.

Season Impact

The three points move Strasbourg II into the top six of the Championnat National 2, and they will be buoyed by a hard-fought win. Sochaux II remain in mid-table, but they will be disappointed to have conceded so late. Both teams are still in the mix for a promotion push, but Strasbourg II's ability to grind out results could prove crucial as the season progresses.
