The Putian Team delivered a commanding performance on home soil at the Fujian Football City League, securing a convincing 2-0 victory over the Sanming Team on 13 July 2026. The match, played under floodlights with a 19:35 kick-off, saw Putian dominate proceedings from the opening whistle, maintaining their strong push for a top-four finish in the league standings.

Match Overview

Putian entered the fixture on a three-match unbeaten run and looked to capitalise on Sanming’s recent defensive struggles. The home side wasted no time imposing their rhythm, controlling possession in the midfield and creating early chances through quick wing play. Sanming, meanwhile, sat deep and attempted to hit on the counter, but found little success against a well-organised Putian backline.

Key Moments

• 18th minute – Putian strike first: A slick passing move down the right flank ended with a low cross that was met by forward Li Xuan, who swept the ball past Sanming’s goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
• 41st minute – Sanming’s best chance saved: Sanming’s captain Zhou Hai unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box, but Putian’s custodian Wang Lei produced a fingertip save to keep the lead intact.
• 67th minute – Putian doubles the advantage: A corner kick delivery found centre-back Chen Wei unmarked at the far post, and he nodded home to give Putian a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
• 89th minute – Late red card for Sanming: Sanming’s midfielder Xu Tao was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle, effectively ending any hopes of a late comeback.

Tactical Story

Putian’s 4-3-3 formation outmatched Sanming’s cautious 5-4-1 setup. The home side’s full-backs pushed high, pinning Sanming back and creating overloads in wide areas. Sanming lacked a creative outlet in the final third, with their lone striker isolated for large spells. Putian’s midfield trio of Zhang Ming, Liu Yang, and Huang Jie controlled the tempo, completing over 80% of their passes in the attacking half.

Standout Players

• Li Xuan (Putian) – Man of the Match: Scored the opener and was a constant threat with his pace and movement. His off-the-ball runs stretched the Sanming defence throughout.
• Wang Lei (Putian) – Goalkeeper: His crucial first-half save preserved the clean sheet, showcasing excellent reflexes and command of his area.
• Zhou Hai (Sanming): Despite the loss, Sanming’s captain worked tirelessly in midfield and was their only player to test the opposition goalkeeper.

Table & Season Impact

The victory lifts Putian to third place in the Fujian Football City League standings, now only two points behind second-placed Xiamen. Sanming, meanwhile, remain in eighth and have now lost three of their last four matches, deepening concerns about relegation survival. With the season entering its decisive phase, every point is crucial for both sides.

Putian will look to extend their winning momentum when they travel to face Quanzhou next week, while Sanming face a must-win home fixture against Longyan to halt their slide.
