Quanzhou Team tasted a late heartbreak at home as Xiamen Team came from behind to win 2-1 in the Fujian Football City League on Saturday night. The highly anticipated coastal derby lived up to its billing, delivering goals, drama, and a strong statement from Xiamen in the early 2026 season.

Quanzhou made the brighter start at a lively home ground and rewarded their supporters with the opening goal in the first half, converting after a well-constructed passing move that sliced through the Xiamen midfield. The home side looked comfortable and controlled the tempo for long stretches, but Xiamen refused to wilt and began to find more space as the half wore on.

Xiamen’s second-half response

After the interval, Xiamen changed the dynamic with more urgency in possession. Their equalizer arrived with a composed finish inside the box, setting up a tense finale. As Quanzhou pushed forward in search of a winner, they left gaps at the back, and Xiamen punished them with a decisive strike in the closing stages to complete a memorable away comeback.

Standings and season impact

The 2-1 win gives Xiamen Team an early season statement of intent, bagging three valuable points on the road against a fellow contender in the Fujian Football City League. Quanzhou, meanwhile, will rue missed moments and a late defensive lapse after showing real quality in phases. With results elsewhere in the league, this derby could prove significant in the race for the upper playoff places, and Xiamen’s ability to grind out results away from home may well become a defining feature of their campaign.
