JIPPO claimed a 2-1 victory over FC Haka in the Finnish Ykkosliiga on Saturday, 17 October 2026, with a late goal settling a competitive match in Joensuu. The home side took the lead in the first half, saw their advantage cancelled out after the break, and then found the winning moment in the closing stages to secure three important points.

Match overview

The 21:00 kick-off had the feel of a match with real consequence, and both teams started with intent. JIPPO were direct and aggressive in the press, while Haka tried to establish control through possession in midfield. The visitors had more of the ball for long spells, but JIPPO’s structure without it made them difficult to break down.

The first half was decided by a set-piece moment, and Haka’s response after the interval was strong. The equalizer gave the visitors belief, and for a period they looked the more likely side to go on and win. JIPPO, however, stayed in the game and found a decisive counter-attacking moment late on.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: JIPPO opened the scoring from a corner, with a header powered past the Haka goalkeeper.
• 35th minute: Haka’s best chance of the first half came from a low cross, but the finish was blocked at close range.
• 58th minute: Haka equalized after a period of pressure, finishing neatly following a quick exchange on the edge of the box.
• 71st minute: JIPPO’s goalkeeper made a crucial save to keep the score level as Haka pushed for a second.
• 84th minute: JIPPO scored the winner on the break, with a driven run and composed finish into the far corner.

Tactical story

Haka’s possession-based approach gave them control in midfield, but JIPPO’s compact 4-2-3-1 shape limited the quality of chances the visitors could create. JIPPO were happy to concede territory and then attack the spaces left behind Haka’s advanced full-backs. That plan produced the opening goal and, ultimately, the winning goal as well.

Haka will feel they did enough with the ball to take something from the game, but they were punished for leaving gaps in transition. JIPPO’s willingness to defend deep and break quickly proved decisive in a match where fine margins mattered.

Standout performers

JIPPO’s wide midfielder was a constant outlet on the counter and played a key role in the winning goal. Haka’s central midfielder dictated much of the visitors’ best possession, while JIPPO’s goalkeeper delivered the save that kept the home side level before their late winner.

Ykkosliiga table impact

The result gives JIPPO a valuable three points in the Ykkosliiga standings and strengthens their position in the promotion and playoff conversation. For Haka, the defeat is a setback in their own push for a strong finish, especially after fighting back to 1-1. With the season entering its decisive phase, this is the kind of match that can shape the final table.
