TPV Tampere 1-3 Jazz Pori: Clinical Jazz Punish TPV in Ykkonen Clash

TPV Tampere suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Jazz Pori in the Finnish Ykkonen on Saturday, 26 September 2026, as the visitors produced a sharp and efficient attacking display at Tammelan Stadion. The result gives Jazz Pori valuable momentum in the Ykkonen table, while TPV are left to rue another home performance that promised more than it delivered.

Match overview

TPV Tampere started with purpose, pressing Jazz Pori high and forcing a series of early turnovers. The home side's midfield looked to dictate tempo, but Jazz Pori were content to sit in a compact 4-4-2 shape and strike on the break. The opener came against the run of play in the 18th minute when Jami Puustinen collected a loose ball 20 yards from goal and curled a low effort into the bottom corner. TPV responded well and equalised in the 34th minute through Onni Koivisto, who reacted quickest after a corner was only half-cleared. The teams went in level at 1-1, but Jazz Pori raised their intensity after the interval.

Tactical story

TPV Tampere lined up in a 4-2-3-1 and looked to overload the flanks, but Jazz Pori's wide midfielders tracked back diligently and denied space in the final third. Jazz's midfield screen protected the back four, and their quick transitions repeatedly caught TPV's high defensive line. After half-time, Jazz pushed their wingers higher and targeted the space behind TPV's advancing full-backs. The switch turned the game: TPV's possession became sterile, while Jazz created three clear chances from counters and set-piece situations. TPV's late substitutions added energy but not enough penetration.

Standout players

Jami Puustinen was the catalyst for Jazz Pori, combining intelligent movement with a decisive finish. Eetu Salminen's pace stretched TPV all evening, and Roope Mäkinen's aerial threat capped a complete away performance. For TPV, Onni Koivisto was the bright spot, scoring the equaliser and linking play well, while goalkeeper Ville Nieminen made two important saves to keep the score respectable.

Ykkonen table impact

The win strengthens Jazz Pori's position in the upper half of the Ykkonen standings and keeps them within touching distance of the promotion places. TPV Tampere remain in the lower reaches and will need to improve their home form if they are to climb away from trouble. With the season entering its decisive phase, Jazz Pori's ability to win on the road could prove crucial, while TPV must regroup quickly before their next fixture.
