PK Keski Uusimaa Women produced the standout away performance of the round in the Finnish Women's Ykkonen, sweeping past KTP Kotka Women 4-1 on Sunday evening. The visitors were sharper in every phase of the game, converting their chances with clinical efficiency and punishing a home side that struggled to cope with quick transitions through midfield.

Match Overview

KTP Kotka came into the fixture with the comfort of home surroundings, but that advantage lasted only a matter of minutes. Keski Uusimaa pressed aggressively from the first whistle, won the ball high up the pitch, and turned possession into attacking situations with impressive speed. The scoreline reflected the balance of play across the full 90 minutes rather than a fluke burst of finishing.

Key Moments

• 9' – Early breakthrough: Aino Virtanen finished calmly at the near post after a turnover in midfield to put the visitors ahead.
• 27' – Double trouble: Emilia Korhonen curled a shot beyond the goalkeeper from the edge of the box.
• 41' – Kotka reply: Venla Mäkinen gave the hosts brief hope with a well-taken finish after a scramble in the area.
• 63' – Restoring the cushion: Sanni Lahtinen converted from close range following a deep cross.
• 85' – Fourth goal: Roosa Heikkinen rounded off a counter-attack to complete the scoring at 4-1.

Tactical Story

Keski Uusimaa lined up with a narrow midfield three that squeezed the central areas and forced KTP Kotka into wide, low-percentage passes. Once the ball was won, the visitors attacked in numbers, with the wide forwards driving inside to overload the penalty area. It was a simple plan, executed with real discipline.

The home side's best passages came immediately after their goal, when a more direct approach briefly unsettled the visiting defence. But Keski Uusimaa adjusted quickly, dropping their defensive line slightly deeper and using their pace on the break to keep the game stretched in their favour.

Standout Players

Aino Virtanen set the tone with the opening goal and linked play superbly throughout, drifting between the lines to create space for teammates. Emilia Korhonen was a constant threat from midfield, while Sanni Lahtinen's movement in the box repeatedly pulled defenders out of position.

For KTP Kotka, Venla Mäkinen was the one bright spark, taking her goal with assurance and working tirelessly even as the game drifted away from her side.

Table and Season Impact

An away victory of this magnitude carries real weight in the Ykkonen, where goal difference and road results frequently decide the final standings. Keski Uusimaa will take confidence from the ruthlessness of their finishing and the maturity of their game management in the closing stages.

KTP Kotka are left to reflect on a defensive performance that unravelled under pressure. Home form is the foundation of any promotion or survival campaign at this level, and conceding four in front of their own supporters is a result that will need a swift response in the coming weeks.
