PPJ/Ruoholahti secured a professional 2-0 home win over EPS Reservi in the Finnish Kolmonen on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The 17:00 fixture was decided by two well-taken goals and a solid defensive display that kept the visitors at arm’s length for long spells.

Match overview

PPJ/Ruoholahti controlled the rhythm of the match from the early stages, dominating possession and forcing EPS Reservi to defend deep. The opening goal arrived midway through the first half, and from that point the home side never looked like surrendering their advantage. A second goal after the break gave them breathing room, and their back line managed the game calmly to record a clean sheet.

Key moments

• 28th minute – PPJ/Ruoholahti 1-0: Matias Korhonen broke the deadlock with a composed finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.
• 69th minute – PPJ/Ruoholahti 2-0: Aleksi Nurmi sealed the win, arriving late in the area to convert a low cross.
• 84th minute – EPS Reservi’s best chance: A rare breakaway ended with a shot flashing wide of the post.

Tactical story

PPJ/Ruoholahti used their wide players effectively, creating overloads and delivering early crosses into the box. EPS Reservi sat in a compact block and tried to counter, but they were often isolated in attack and struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve pressure. The home side’s midfield won the second balls consistently, allowing them to sustain attacks and prevent any sustained EPS Reservi comeback.

Standout players

Korhonen was influential throughout, linking play and scoring the crucial opening goal. Nurmi’s late run and finish showed his attacking instincts, while goalkeeper Eemeli Rautio was rarely troubled but dealt confidently with crosses and set-pieces. For EPS Reservi, the defender Ville Hakala made several important blocks, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Kolmonen table impact

The three points strengthen PPJ/Ruoholahti’s position in the Finnish Kolmonen standings and continue their strong home form. EPS Reservi remain focused on climbing the table, but this was a reminder of the challenge they face against organised opponents. For PPJ/Ruoholahti, the clean sheet will be as pleasing as the goals, providing a solid platform for the matches ahead.
