The first half was evenly contested, with both teams cautious in possession and reluctant to commit too many players forward. Tactical Story

Bradford Park Avenue lined up in a compact 4-4-2, prioritising defensive solidity and quick transitions. Their midfield stayed disciplined, tracking runners and protecting the back four. Set-pieces were clearly a key part of their game plan, and the winning goal came from exactly that avenue.

Lancaster City used a 4-3-3 and tried to play through the thirds, but they often found themselves running into traffic in central areas. Their wingers provided width, yet the final ball was inconsistent. As the game wore on, Lancaster pushed more players forward, which opened space for Bradford’s counters, though the home side were content to defend their one-goal lead.

Standout Players

Bradford’s centre-back was the hero, scoring the only goal and defending with authority throughout. The goalkeeper also played a vital role, making a crucial save in the closing stages and commanding his box from crosses. Bradford’s captain led by example, organising the defensive line and winning important duels.

For Lancaster City, the central midfielder was their best player, dictating play and creating chances with intelligent passes. The striker worked hard and was unlucky not to score, while the left-back offered a constant attacking threat down the flank.

Cup Run Impact

Bradford Park Avenue advance with a clean sheet and a place in the next round, a reward for their discipline and resilience. Lancaster City exit the FA Cup after a narrow defeat, but their performance showed they can compete against strong opposition. For Bradford, the 1-0 win is the kind of result that can build momentum for the rest of the season.
