Tallinna FC Ararat TTU Power Past Harju JK U21 in Estonian Cup

Tallinna FC Ararat TTU delivered one of the most emphatic performances of their Estonian Cup campaign, defeating Harju JK U21 5-0 in a one-sided knockout tie on 23 September 2026. The home side controlled the match from the opening whistle, scored at regular intervals, and never allowed their young opponents a route back into the contest.

The result sends Ararat TTU into the next round of the Estonian Cup, commonly known as the Eesti Karikas, while Harju JK U21 exit the competition after a difficult evening against senior opposition. Ararat’s five-goal display underlined their attacking depth and their ability to turn cup ties into comfortable victories when given space to play.

Match Overview

Ararat TTU began with intent, pressing high and forcing Harju JK U21 into hurried clearances. The early pressure paid off when the home side opened the scoring inside the first quarter-hour, setting the tone for a match that quickly became a test of Harju’s defensive resilience. Ararat’s midfield dominated possession, switching play from side to side and creating overloads in wide areas.

By half-time, the tie was already effectively settled. Ararat added two more goals before the break, exposing gaps between Harju’s defensive lines and converting their chances with clinical efficiency. Harju JK U21 showed flashes of composure in possession, but their attacking moves rarely reached the final third with enough support.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Artur Makarov opened the scoring for Tallinna FC Ararat TTU, finishing calmly after a quick move down the right.
• 27th minute: Davit Manukyan doubled the lead with a well-struck effort from the edge of the penalty area.
• 44th minute: Makarov struck again before half-time, punishing a loose defensive pass and making it 3-0.
• 63rd minute: Maksim Orlov added a fourth after a sustained spell of pressure, curling the ball beyond the Harju goalkeeper.
• 81st minute: Substitute Erik Grigorjev completed the scoring, tapping in from close range after another dangerous Ararat attack.

Tactical Story

Ararat TTU lined up with an aggressive shape that allowed their full-backs to push high and their midfielders to dictate tempo. The home side repeatedly created two-on-one situations on the flanks, and Harju JK U21 struggled to shift across quickly enough. Ararat’s first two goals came from wide build-up, while their third arrived from a high turnover that highlighted their pressing structure.

Harju JK U21 attempted to play out from the back, but the speed of Ararat’s counter-press made that approach risky. When Harju did manage to break the first line, their forwards were often isolated. Ararat’s centre-backs dealt comfortably with long balls and set pieces, preserving a clean sheet that reflected their control of the game.

Standout Players

Artur Makarov was the clear attacking focal point for Ararat TTU, scoring twice and constantly troubling Harju’s back line with sharp movement. Davit Manukyan controlled the middle of the pitch, linking defence and attack and contributing a goal of his own. Maksim Orlov added creativity and end product from the wing, while Erik Grigorjev made an immediate impact from the bench with the fifth goal.

For Harju JK U21, goalkeeper Marten Kask deserves credit for several saves that prevented an even heavier scoreline. Captain Rasmus Lepik worked hard in midfield, but the team as a whole found it difficult to match Ararat’s physicality and speed in transition.

What the Result Means

For Tallinna FC Ararat TTU, the 5-0 win is a statement result in the Estonian Cup. It builds momentum for the next round, boosts confidence across the squad, and gives the coaching staff the luxury of rotating players in upcoming fixtures. A clean sheet alongside five goals is exactly the kind of complete cup performance managers hope for in knockout football.

For Harju JK U21, the defeat ends their Estonian Cup run but offers valuable experience for a young squad. Facing a stronger, more experienced opponent in a competitive cup environment can accelerate development, even when the final score is painful. The challenge now is to respond in league play and use the lessons from this match.
