Match overview

From the 21:00 kick-off, Stoke City Women looked the sharper side. Their midfield pressed aggressively, forcing Liverpool Feds into hurried passes and long clearances. The Feds tried to build through the flanks, but Stoke's back line stayed compact and won most of the important duels. Once Stoke took the lead, they managed the game with maturity, slowing the tempo when needed and attacking with purpose when space appeared.

Key moments

Tactical story

Stoke's shape without the ball was the foundation of the win. Their midfield trio screened the space in front of the defence, while the wide players dropped in to create a five-player defensive line when Liverpool tried to progress. That structure limited the Feds to speculative crosses and shots from distance. In possession, Stoke were direct and efficient, targeting the channels behind Liverpool's advanced full-backs. The Feds enjoyed brief spells of pressure but could not turn that territory into clear chances.

Standout performers

Stoke's central striker led the line impressively, scoring twice and holding the ball up to bring others into play. The visiting captain controlled the midfield tempo, while the centre-back pairing dealt comfortably with Liverpool's second-half crosses. For Liverpool Feds, the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the score from becoming more one-sided, and the left winger was the most persistent attacking threat.

What it means

The three points strengthen Stoke City Women's position in the English Women's North Conference standings and add valuable goal difference to their season record. For Liverpool Feds Women, the result is a reminder of the fine margins in a competitive division. They will need to regroup quickly, tighten their defensive shape, and find more creativity in the final third if they are to climb the table in the coming weeks.
