Liversedge 3-0 Silsden A.F.C.: Clinical Liversedge Secure Comfortable Home Victory

Liversedge delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Silsden A.F.C. in English Northern League Division One, blending set-piece threat with sharp counter-attacking to pull clear of their opponents. The home side were efficient rather than extravagant, but they controlled the key moments and never allowed Silsden to settle into a rhythm.

Three unanswered goals, a clean sheet, and a strong second-half defensive display made it a satisfying night for Liversedge. Silsden had spells of possession, especially after the break, but they struggled to turn territory into genuine chances.

Match Overview

• Final score: Liversedge 3-0 Silsden A.F.C.
• Competition: English Northern League Division One
• Venue: Liversedge home ground
• Winner: Liversedge
• Clean sheet: Liversedge

Liversedge started brightly and took the lead inside the opening quarter of an hour. A deep cross from the left was met by a powerful header, giving the home side an early advantage and forcing Silsden to chase the game.

Key Moments

The second goal arrived before half-time. Liversedge won a penalty after a driving run into the box was halted by a mistimed challenge, and the spot-kick was converted with confidence. That 2-0 lead gave Liversedge a cushion, but they did not sit back entirely; they continued to press high and force Silsden into errors.

The third goal came in the second half, and it was the best of the bunch. A rapid counter-attack started deep in Liversedge’s half, moved through midfield with two quick passes, and ended with a low finish across the goalkeeper. Silsden’s best chance came late on, but a fine save preserved the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Liversedge used a high defensive line to squeeze Silsden’s midfield, making it difficult for the visitors to play through the middle. When Silsden went long, the home centre-backs were aggressive in the air. In possession, Liversedge looked to attack quickly, often targeting the space behind Silsden’s full-backs.

Silsden improved after half-time by pushing their wingers higher and committing more bodies forward, but that only increased the space Liversedge could exploit on the break. The home side’s midfield balance was key: one player sat deep to protect the defence, while the other two rotated forward to support the striker.

Standout Players

Liversedge’s captain was excellent at the heart of defence, winning tackles and starting attacks. The winger on the left caused problems throughout, while the striker’s movement created space for the midfield runners. The goalkeeper’s late save capped a composed team performance.

Season Impact

This 3-0 result adds three important points and improves Liversedge’s goal difference in the English Northern League Division One standings. Silsden A.F.C. will need to regroup quickly, as the division offers little margin for a prolonged dip in form. For Liversedge, it was a statement of efficiency and control.
