Boreham Wood 3-1 Altrincham: Adeyemi Brace Powers Comfortable Home Win

Boreham Wood produced one of their most complete performances of the English National League season, defeating Altrincham 3-1 at Meadow Park on Saturday, 3 October 2026. A first-half brace from Marcus Adeyemi set the tone, and Louis Casey added a third before Altrincham grabbed a late consolation from the penalty spot.

The result keeps Boreham Wood firmly in the promotion conversation and extends Altrincham's difficult run. From the opening minutes, the home side looked sharper, more aggressive, and far more decisive in the final third.

Match Overview

Boreham Wood started on the front foot and opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Adeyemi latched onto a through ball, held off his marker, and finished calmly past the goalkeeper. The striker doubled his tally in the 37th minute, arriving at the back post to convert a low cross from the right.

Altrincham struggled to contain Boreham Wood's wing-backs, who pushed high and created overloads in wide areas. The third goal arrived in the 67th minute when Louis Casey drove forward from midfield and unleashed a shot from the edge of the box that took a slight deflection on its way in.

To their credit, Altrincham kept playing and were rewarded with a penalty in the 78th minute. Elliott Rainsford converted confidently, but it was no more than a consolation. Boreham Wood managed the closing stages with maturity and claimed a deserved three points.

• 37' – Boreham Wood 2-0: Adeyemi taps in at the back post after an excellent overlapping run and cross.
• 67' – Boreham Wood 3-0: Louis Casey's driven effort from midfield finds the net via a deflection.

Tactical Story

Boreham Wood's 3-4-2-1 gave them control in wide areas. The wing-backs stretched Altrincham's midfield, and Adeyemi's movement between the centre-backs was a constant problem. Altrincham tried to press high but left too much space behind their defensive line, which Boreham Wood exploited ruthlessly in the first half.

In the second period, the home side dropped their intensity slightly but still looked the more likely to score. Altrincham improved after switching to a more direct approach, and the penalty gave them a brief lifeline. However, Boreham Wood's defensive organisation held firm in the final stages.

Standout Players

Marcus Adeyemi was the obvious man of the match with two well-taken goals and relentless running. Louis Casey controlled the tempo from midfield and capped his display with the third goal. For Altrincham, Elliott Rainsford was bright after coming on, and their goalkeeper kept the score from becoming more lopsided with several stops.

National League Table Impact

Boreham Wood's victory strengthens their position among the early pacesetters and underlines their credentials as a side capable of sustaining a promotion push. Altrincham, meanwhile, remain in need of consistency and will be concerned by the ease with which they were opened up in the first half.

The National League standings are still taking shape at this stage of the campaign, but this result sends a clear message: Boreham Wood are dangerous at home, and when Adeyemi is in this mood, they can overwhelm opponents quickly.
