Tactical Story

Defensively, they were aggressive but disciplined, catching Charlton offside several times.

Charlton’s best spell came early in the second half when they pushed their full-backs higher and played more directly. But the Lionesses’ superior transition play proved decisive. Every time Charlton committed numbers forward, the visitors threatened on the break, and the fourth goal was a perfect example of their ruthless counter-attacking.

Standout Players

Kosovare Asllani was the undisputed player of the match, scoring three goals and assisting another. Her movement, vision, and finishing were on another level. What It Means

London City Lionesses move closer to the top of the FA Women’s Super League table and send a warning to their title rivals. Charlton Women remain in the lower half and must find a way to tighten up defensively if they are to avoid a relegation battle. The WSL season is long, but performances like this show the Lionesses are serious contenders.
