Tactical story

Bristol City controlled the midfield and used quick switches of play to stretch Wolves’ defensive shape. Bennett’s movement in the box was a constant problem, and her teammates repeatedly found her with deliveries from wide areas. Wolves defended bravely at times but struggled to cope with Bristol’s tempo in the final third.

Wolves’ best moments came from set pieces and direct attacks, and they deserve credit for staying in the contest until the closing stages. However, Bristol City’s superior quality in the box and their ability to create chances in quick succession proved decisive. The hosts managed the final minutes calmly after Collins restored their two-goal cushion.

Bennett was the clear standout with a well-taken hat-trick, showing poise and positioning throughout. Collins added the finishing touch, while Bristol City’s midfield kept the team moving forward with purpose. For Wolves, Simmons and Price both took their goals well, but the visitors were ultimately undone by defensive lapses.
