AZS UJ Krakow Women and Lech Poznan UAM Women played out a goalless draw in the Poland Women’s Ekstraliga on 29 August 2026. The result was a fair reflection of a match in which defences dominated and clear-cut opportunities were rare, but the competitive spirit never waned.

Match overview

AZS UJ Krakow Women entered the fixture looking to make home advantage count, while Lech Poznan UAM Women were eager to return south with a positive result. The hosts began brightly and saw plenty of the ball, but they struggled to break down a well-drilled Lech Poznan defence. The visitors, in contrast, were happy to sit deep and attack on the counter, a tactic that almost produced a goal on several occasions.

Talking points

• Krakow possession: The home side controlled large spells of the game but lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
• Poznan threat: Lech Poznan UAM Women’s pace on the break caused problems, especially in the second half.
• Goalkeeper heroics: Both goalkeepers were called into action, with the two best saves of the match coming within minutes of each other.

Tactical battle

The midfield was the key battleground. AZS UJ Krakow Women tried to play through the middle, but Lech Poznan UAM Women’s compact shape limited their creativity. Whenever the hosts did find space wide, crosses were dealt with comfortably. On the other side, Lech Poznan’s counter-attacking approach was well executed but lacked a finishing touch.

Season context

This draw provides both teams with a solid platform early in the Ekstraliga campaign. AZS UJ Krakow Women will look to convert their dominance into goals in future fixtures, while Lech Poznan UAM Women have shown they can compete away from home. With the league table still congested, these are the kinds of points that can prove valuable later in the year.
