Kom Hamada secured a hard-fought 1-0 away win against El Olympi in the Egypt Second Division B on Wednesday evening, with a solitary second-half goal settling a cagey contest. The victory gives Kom Hamada a valuable three points on the road and leaves El Olympi ruing a lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

Match Overview

The match kicked off at 20:30 local time and quickly settled into a pattern: El Olympi enjoying more of the ball, Kom Hamada sitting in a compact mid-block and looking to counter. The home side moved the ball neatly in midfield but found it difficult to penetrate a disciplined visiting defence. Kom Hamada, meanwhile, grew in confidence as the first half wore on, creating the better chances on the break.

The decisive moment came in the second half, and from that point on, Kom Hamada defended their lead with maturity, repelling wave after wave of El Olympi pressure.

Key Moments

• First-half chances: El Olympi forced two corners in quick succession but could not convert, while Kom Hamada hit the side-netting on a rapid counter.
• Winning goal: A misplaced pass in midfield was pounced on, and a quick through-ball released the Kom Hamada striker, who finished low into the far corner.
• Late siege: El Olympi threw bodies forward, but a combination of last-ditch blocks and a superb save from the Kom Hamada goalkeeper preserved the clean sheet.
• Full-time: The final whistle sparked celebrations among the away players, who knew they had ground out a tough result.

Tactical Story

El Olympi set up in a 4-3-3, aiming to dominate possession and use their wide forwards to isolate the full-backs. But Kom Hamada’s 4-4-2 defensive shape was well-drilled, with the two banks of four limiting space between the lines. The visitors were content to let El Olympi have the ball in harmless areas, then strike on the transition.

After taking the lead, Kom Hamada switched to a 5-3-2, bringing on an extra defender to shore up the back line. That change frustrated El Olympi, who were reduced to crosses and long shots. The tactical discipline of the away side was the defining feature of the match.

Standout Players

Kom Hamada’s goalscorer was the obvious hero, showing composure to finish a one-on-one chance. The goalkeeper also deserves huge credit for a string of saves, including a late stop that denied El Olympi an equaliser. For El Olympi, the central midfielder was their best player, constantly demanding the ball and trying to create, but he lacked support in the final third.

Table and Season Impact

This win strengthens Kom Hamada’s position in the Egypt Second Division B standings and gives them confidence for the challenges ahead. El Olympi, meanwhile, remain in search of consistency at home, where they have struggled to turn possession into goals. The result is a reminder that in this division, defensive organisation and clinical counter-attacking often decide tight matches.
