Ithad Al Shortah secured a 2-1 away victory over FC Masar in the Egyptian Scores Cup on September 27, 2026, turning in a disciplined and clinical performance at a 21:00 kick-off. The visitors fell behind early but responded with two well-worked goals to progress with a hard-fought win. For FC Masar, it was a night of frustration after taking the lead and creating enough chances to take something from the match.

Match Overview

FC Masar began confidently and took the lead in the 18th minute when Ahmed El Sayed finished neatly after a period of sustained pressure. The hosts moved the ball well through midfield and looked to overload the right side, forcing Ithad Al Shortah into a deep defensive block. But the visitors stayed compact and grew into the game, equalising just after half-time through Mahmoud Abdelrahman, who converted a low cross at the back post.

With the match level, FC Masar pushed forward in search of a winner, but that left space behind their defence. Ithad Al Shortah exploited it in the 78th minute when Karim Fathi broke clear and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. FC Masar pressed late and forced a series of corners, but Ithad’s defence held firm to seal a 2-1 win.

Tactical Story

FC Masar set up to dominate possession and did so for long periods, using their midfield triangle to circulate the ball and draw Ithad Al Shortah out of position. However, their final pass was often delayed, allowing the visitors to recover. Ithad Al Shortah defended in a narrow 4-4-2 block and looked to spring forward through the channels whenever they won the ball. Their winning goal was a perfect example of that game plan: a quick turnover, a direct pass and a decisive run from midfield.

Standout Players

Karim Fathi was the match-winner for Ithad Al Shortah, combining intelligent movement with a calm finish. Mahmoud Abdelrahman was equally important, driving the comeback with his energy and link play. For FC Masar, Ahmed El Sayed was the most dangerous attacker and took his goal well, while their captain tried to drive the team forward late on. In the end, Ithad’s efficiency in front of goal proved the difference.

Season Impact

The result sends Ithad Al Shortah into the next stage of the Egyptian Scores Cup with momentum, while FC Masar are left to reflect on a cup exit that hinged on missed chances and one costly counter-attack. Cup football is often decided by fine margins, and this match was a clear example: FC Masar had more of the ball, but Ithad Al Shortah had the sharper edge in both boxes. The visitors’ ability to win away from home in a knockout-style environment will be a major confidence boost.
