Ittihad Alexandria SC delivered one of the standout away performances of the Egyptian Premier League round, winning 2-0 at Al Masry in a fixture that had the atmosphere of a derby and the intensity of a cup tie. The visitors were sharper in both boxes, scoring twice and keeping a clean sheet against one of the league's most passionate home crowds.

Match Overview

Al Masry are traditionally a formidable proposition on home turf, and the opening exchanges reflected that: high tempo, heavy pressing and a crowd determined to drive their team forward. Ittihad Alexandria, however, were unfazed. They defended with discipline, kept their shape under pressure and waited for the moments when the game would open up for them.

Those moments arrived. Clinical finishing and a well-organised defensive structure turned a difficult away trip into a statement victory.

Key Moments

• Early warning: Al Masry's first meaningful chance came from a set piece, headed just over the crossbar.
• Opening goal: Ittihad struck against the run of play, a fast break finished low into the corner after an incisive through ball.
• Momentum shift: Al Masry responded strongly, forcing two saves and a goalmouth scramble before half-time.
• Second goal: The decisive blow came after the interval, a well-worked move down the left finished at the back post.
• Late resistance: With the home side committed forward, Ittihad defended their box superbly and saw the game out without conceding.

Tactical Story

Ittihad Alexandria's plan was built on defensive solidity and rapid counter-attacking. They conceded possession willingly at times, dropping into a compact mid-block and daring Al Masry to break them down with patient passing. The home side struggled to find a way through, repeatedly resorting to crosses that were dealt with comfortably by the visiting centre-backs.

In transition, Ittihad were devastating. Their attacking players ran directly at the defence, and the two goals both came from moves that began deep in their own half and ended with composed finishes. Al Masry pushed numbers forward in the closing stages, but the visitors' goalkeeper and back line were equal to everything thrown at them.

Standout Players

The goalscorers naturally take the spotlight, with the second goal in particular a demonstration of excellent movement and timing at the back post. Ittihad's central defenders were outstanding, winning headers, blocking shots and organising the line throughout. For Al Masry, their most threatening player was the winger who repeatedly tried to force something from the left flank, but he lacked support in the final third.

Season Impact

Winning away at a venue as demanding as Al Masry's home ground is the kind of result that can define a campaign. Ittihad Alexandria take three points, a clean sheet and a significant boost in confidence, strengthening their position in the Egyptian Premier League table and their credentials as genuine contenders for a high finish. Al Masry, meanwhile, will be frustrated by a night when territory and effort were not converted into goals — a reminder that in this league, ruthlessness in both penalty areas is what separates the top sides from the rest.
