Telecom Egypt 0-1 El Mansoura — El Mansoura edged Telecom Egypt 1-0 in Egyptian Division 2 on October 9, 2026, thanks to a second-half goal that settled a tight and tactical contest. The visitors defended resolutely after taking the lead and handed Telecom Egypt a frustrating home defeat.

El Mansoura snatch narrow away win at Telecom Egypt

The match began at 20:30 local time with Telecom Egypt looking to impose themselves through possession. El Mansoura sat deeper, compressed the central spaces, and looked to strike on the counter. The first half produced few clear chances, with both teams cautious in the final third and goalkeepers largely untested. Telecom Egypt’s best moments came from wide areas, but their crosses were repeatedly cleared.

The decisive moment arrived in the 64th minute. A set piece from the right was only partially cleared, and El Mansoura’s midfielder reacted quickest to drive a low shot through a crowded penalty area and into the net. Telecom Egypt responded with urgency, pushing their full-backs higher and committing more players forward, but El Mansoura’s defensive organization held.

Key moments

• 64th minute — El Mansoura take the lead: A partially cleared set piece fell to the edge of the box, and a low finish broke the deadlock.
• 71st minute — Telecom Egypt go close: A header from a corner drifted just wide of the far post.
• 83rd minute — El Mansoura nearly double it: A counter-attack ended with a shot across goal that narrowly missed.
• 88th minute — Late pressure: Telecom Egypt threw bodies forward, but El Mansoura’s goalkeeper claimed the final cross.

Tactical story

Telecom Egypt played with a patient 4-2-3-1, circulating the ball and trying to draw El Mansoura out. But the visitors maintained a disciplined 4-1-4-1 without possession, denying space between the lines and forcing play wide. El Mansoura’s midfield screened the defence effectively, and their quick transitions caused problems whenever Telecom Egypt lost the ball in advanced areas.

The home side’s build-up was too slow at times, allowing El Mansoura to reset. When Telecom Egypt did increase the tempo late on, they created half-chances but lacked a finishing touch. El Mansoura’s game plan was clear: stay compact, take one opportunity, and protect the lead. They executed it almost perfectly.

Standout performers

El Mansoura’s goalkeeper was steady under late pressure and dealt confidently with crosses. The goalscorer showed excellent awareness to follow up on the loose ball, while the centre-back pairing produced a brave defensive display. For Telecom Egypt, their playmaker tried to create throughout, and their left-back offered attacking width, but the team could not find an equalizer.

What the result means

El Mansoura leave with a valuable away win that boosts their position in the Egyptian Division 2 table. Telecom Egypt remain frustrated after a match they largely controlled without reward. The result underlines the importance of converting possession into clear chances, and Telecom Egypt will need to be more ruthless in front of goal in their next outing.
