NK Zagora Unesic claimed a convincing 3-1 away victory over NK Lucko in the Croatian Second Football League on 26 September 2026, producing a disciplined second-half performance that underlined their promotion ambitions. The visitors struck first, weathered a brief Lucko revival, and then pulled clear with two late goals to secure all three points at the Stadion Lučko.

Match Overview

The match kicked off at 22:00 local time under floodlights, with a cool evening and a modest crowd of around 400 creating an intimate atmosphere. Both sides entered the contest looking to climb the early-season standings, but it was Zagora who settled quicker, pressing high and forcing Lucko into rushed clearances. Lucko, playing in front of their home supporters, struggled to string passes together in the opening quarter, and their defensive line was repeatedly stretched by Zagora’s quick transitions.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – Zagora take the lead: Marko Perić latched onto a through ball from captain Luka Marić and slotted a low finish past the Lucko goalkeeper.
• 34th minute – Lucko equalise: Against the run of play, Ivan Babić headed home a corner from the right, sending the home crowd into brief celebration.
• 58th minute – Zagora restore their advantage: Perić turned provider, squaring for Marić to sweep the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
• 82nd minute – Zagora seal the win: Substitute Ante Kovačević broke clear on the counter and calmly finished past the advancing goalkeeper to make it 3-1.

Tactical Story

Zagora set up in a compact 4-2-3-1, with the two holding midfielders shielding the back four and allowing the full-backs to push forward. This structure nullified Lucko’s attempts to play through the middle, forcing them into hopeful long balls that were comfortably dealt with by Zagora’s centre-back pairing. After the interval, Zagora increased their pressing intensity, winning the ball higher up the pitch and creating a steady stream of chances. Lucko’s midfield struggled to track runners, and their defence dropped too deep, inviting pressure. The away side’s game management in the final 20 minutes was particularly impressive, as they slowed the tempo and picked their moments to attack.

Standout Players

Marko Perić was the standout performer, scoring one and assisting another; his movement between the lines constantly troubled Lucko. Luka Marić controlled the midfield with composed passing and scored a crucial second goal. For Lucko, goalkeeper Josip Jurić made several smart saves to keep the score respectable, while Ivan Babić was their most dangerous attacker, even if his impact faded after the break.

What the Result Means

The three points lift NK Zagora Unesic into the top half of the Croatian Second Football League standings, boosting their confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. For NK Lucko, the defeat leaves them hovering near the lower reaches of the table, and questions remain about their home form and defensive organisation. The head-to-head record now favours Zagora, who have taken four points from their last two meetings with Lucko. Next up, Lucko face a tricky away trip, while Zagora return home looking to build on this impressive road win.
