Tactical story

Dugo Selo’s midfield trio controlled the tempo, winning loose balls and feeding the wide players in advanced areas. Their full-backs were aggressive, effectively making the pitch wide and forcing Bjelovar’s wingers into defensive work. Bjelovar’s equaliser came from their one clear moment of transition, but they struggled to press consistently and dropped deeper as the game wore on. Dugo Selo’s set-piece threat and ability to sustain attacks made the difference.

Standout players

The Dugo Selo centre-back was dominant in both boxes, scoring the crucial second goal and winning numerous aerial duels. Their left winger caused constant problems with direct running, while the defensive midfielder screened the back four intelligently. Bjelovar’s goalkeeper kept the score respectable with a string of saves, and their lone striker worked tirelessly with limited service.

Bjelovar remain capable of troubling teams but will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb the table. The result also improves Dugo Selo’s recent head-to-head record in this matchup and sets a positive tone for their upcoming fixtures.
