Fortuna Hjørring Women produced one of their most complete performances of the Danish Elitedivisionen season on 24 October 2026, defeating FC Copenhagen (W) 3-1 at home in a match that blended ruthless finishing with disciplined defensive work. The three points strengthen Fortuna’s position in the upper reaches of the table and serve notice that they intend to remain firmly in the title conversation.

Match overview

From the opening whistle, Fortuna set the tone with a high press that forced Copenhagen into hurried clearances and limited their ability to build through midfield. The hosts looked sharper in the final third and were rewarded for their early pressure when they opened the scoring in the 18th minute. A quick transition down the right created space for a low cross, and the finish was emphatic from close range.

Copenhagen responded with spells of possession but struggled to turn territory into clear chances. Fortuna’s back line stayed compact, protected the central areas, and relied on timely interventions from the goalkeeper when crosses arrived. The second goal arrived before half-time, giving the home side a cushion that reflected their greater cutting edge.

Key moments

• 18’ – Fortuna take the lead: A fast break and precise cross allowed the opener, settling the home side’s nerves.
• 41’ – Second goal: Fortuna doubled the advantage after winning the ball high and converting a flowing move.
• 58’ – Copenhagen pull one back: A well-worked attacking sequence gave the visitors hope and raised the tempo.
• 84’ – Late clincher: Fortuna restored their two-goal cushion with a composed finish after another quick transition.

Tactical story

The match was shaped by Fortuna’s aggression without the ball. Their midfield pressed in coordinated bursts, cutting off passing lanes into Copenhagen’s central creators and forcing play wide. Once possession was regained, Fortuna moved the ball forward quickly, often using the flanks to stretch the opposition’s back four.

Copenhagen’s best periods came when they slowed the game down and circulated the ball patiently. Their goal came from exactly that approach, but Fortuna’s response was immediate and mature. Rather than retreating into a low block, the hosts continued to press selectively and managed the closing stages with good game management.

Standout players

Fortuna’s attacking unit deserved much of the credit, with the forward line combining movement and precision throughout. The Player of the Match was the home side’s leading striker, who scored twice and constantly occupied Copenhagen’s centre-backs. In midfield, Fortuna’s captain controlled the rhythm and won several important second balls, while the goalkeeper made two crucial saves at 2-1 to preserve the advantage.

For Copenhagen, the central midfielder who scored the consolation goal was their most persistent threat, driving forward and linking play. However, the visitors lacked the same sharpness in both boxes and were punished for leaving space behind their full-backs.

Season impact

The 3-1 win adds significant momentum to Fortuna Hjørring’s campaign. It keeps them in the leading group and delivers a psychological boost against one of the league’s strongest sides. For FC Copenhagen, the defeat is a setback in the race for top positions, though the performance showed enough attacking quality to suggest they will remain competitive. Fortuna will now look to build on the result, while Copenhagen must regroup quickly as the Elitedivisionen schedule continues.
