AC Horsens and Randers FC Play Out Goalless Draw in Danish Superliga

AC Horsens and Randers FC played out a 0-0 draw in the Danish Superliga on 17 October 2026, a result that reflects the caution and competitive balance that defines so many meetings between these two clubs. Despite a lively atmosphere and plenty of effort from both sides, neither team could find the moment of quality needed to settle the contest.

The point keeps both clubs ticking along in the Superliga table, but on a night of few clear chances, both managers will feel there were opportunities to take more.

Match Overview

• Fixture: AC Horsens vs Randers FC
• Competition: Danish Superliga
• Final score: AC Horsens 0-0 Randers FC
• Result: Draw

Randers FC arrived with the more established Superliga pedigree, a club with a reputation for organised, aggressive football and a recent history of finishing in the top half. AC Horsens, historically a resilient side with strong home support, were determined to make the game uncomfortable for their visitors — and they did exactly that.

First Half: Cagey Opening

The first 45 minutes were defined by two compact defensive units. Randers looked to build patiently from the back, using their midfield to circulate possession and draw Horsens out of shape, but the home side held their structure well and denied space in central areas.

Horsens' best opportunities came from set pieces. Two deliveries into the box caused brief panic in the Randers defence, but the final contact was lacking on both occasions. At the other end, Randers' most promising moment came from a shot from distance that drifted narrowly over the crossbar.

Second Half: Pressure Without Penetration

The tempo increased after the break. Randers pushed their full-backs higher and began to dominate possession, but clear chances remained elusive as Horsens defended their penalty area with discipline. A string of corners and crosses were repelled, with the home goalkeeper commanding his box confidently.

Horsens nearly stole the win late on when a quick counter-attack sent a forward clean through, only for the finish to be dragged wide of the far post. It proved to be the final meaningful moment of a match that ended level.

Tactical Story

This was a game about control and risk management. Randers wanted to dictate tempo and probe patiently, while Horsens were content to sit in a mid-block, absorb pressure and attack in transition. Neither side was willing to gamble too heavily, and the result was a contest with plenty of possession changes but limited genuine goalmouth action.

Both teams defended their penalty areas well, and both goalkeepers were well protected by their back lines — a reflection of how well the two coaches had prepared their sides.

Standout Performers

Horsens' centre-backs were the outstanding performers on the night, winning aerial battles and making several important blocks. Randers' deep-lying midfielder controlled possession impressively and rarely gave the ball away, while their goalkeeper was alert to everything that came into his area.

Season Impact

A point apiece represents a solid, if unspectacular, outcome for both clubs in the Danish Superliga. Horsens will take encouragement from a clean sheet and a disciplined defensive display against a strong opponent, while Randers will view the draw as two points dropped in their pursuit of the upper reaches of the table. In a league where margins are famously fine, clean sheets are valuable currency — and both sides will look to build on this result in the weeks ahead.
