SK Prostejov B edge Sternberk in five-goal thriller

SK Prostejov B claimed a 3-2 victory over Sternberk in the Czech Fourth Division on Saturday, 24 October 2026, winning a back-and-forth contest that swung one way and then the other. A late goal settled the points for the home side, who showed impressive character after twice being pegged back.

The match was a lively advert for the fourth tier, with both teams committed to attacking football and neither defence able to fully control the opposition’s forwards. SK Prostejov B’s ability to find a response at key moments proved decisive, while Sternberk were left to rue a strong second-half spell that did not quite yield a winning result.

Match overview

SK Prostejov B started on the front foot and took the lead after 12 minutes through Jakub Navratil, who finished calmly after a well-worked move down the right. Sternberk responded well and equalised in the 24th minute when Lukas Hruska headed home from a corner. The home side regained the advantage six minutes before half-time through Tomas Krejci, whose shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner.

Sternberk came out strongly after the break and levelled again in the 68th minute through Petr Sedlak, who capitalised on a defensive mistake and slotted past the goalkeeper. With the game seemingly heading for a draw, SK Prostejov B pushed forward once more and found the winner in the 77th minute through Martin Dvorak, who reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the area.

Tactical story

SK Prostejov B’s attacking intent was clear from the opening whistle. They looked to get the ball wide quickly and delivered several dangerous crosses into the box, asking questions of the Sternberk centre-backs. Their midfield also pressed aggressively, forcing turnovers in areas where they could immediately transition into shooting positions.

Sternberk’s response was built on set pieces and direct running. Their equaliser came from a corner, and they continued to look dangerous whenever they could get the ball into the box. After drawing level at 2-2, they briefly looked the more likely side to score next, but SK Prostejov B’s substitutions added energy and helped them regain control in the final quarter of an hour. The winning goal came from exactly the kind of scrappy moment that often decides tight fourth-division matches.

Standout performers

Martin Dvorak will take the headlines for the winning goal, but his overall movement throughout the second half caused problems for Sternberk. Jakub Navratil set the tone with an early goal, while Tomas Krejci was influential in linking midfield and attack. The home goalkeeper also made a vital save at 2-2 to keep the scores level before the decisive third goal.

For Sternberk, Lukas Hruska was a threat in both boxes and scored an important equaliser. Petr Sedlak worked tirelessly up front and took his goal well. Their midfield battled hard, but they were ultimately undone by a momentary lapse in concentration inside their own penalty area.

What the result means

The win gives SK Prostejov B a valuable three points in the Czech Fourth Division and reinforces their ability to grind out results in tight matches. Sternberk, meanwhile, will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after twice fighting back to level the score. The result highlights how fine the margins can be in this division, where set pieces, defensive errors and late goals often shape the final standings. Both sides will look to build on their attacking displays in the next round, but Sternberk will need to tighten up defensively if they are to turn narrow defeats into positive results.
