SC Znojmo 1-0 Sokol Tasovice: Second-half goal settles tight Czech Fourth Division contest

SC Znojmo edged a closely fought Czech Fourth Division match against Sokol Tasovice 1-0 on Sunday evening, 18 October 2026. A second-half goal proved enough in a game of few clear chances, with Znojmo's patience and defensive discipline ultimately deciding the points.

The home side controlled more of the ball, but Tasovice defended in a compact block and made the match difficult. The breakthrough came just after the hour mark, and Znojmo then had to survive a late push to secure the clean sheet.

Match overview

The first half was a cagey affair. Znojmo tried to build through midfield, but Tasovice's back five stayed narrow and forced the hosts wide. The best chance of the opening period fell to Znojmo from a free-kick, but the header went over the bar.

Znojmo increased the tempo after the break and found the decisive goal in the 63rd minute. A patient passing move drew Tasovice to one side, and a low cross from the right was turned in at the near post. The goal forced Tasovice to open up, and they had their best spell in the final 15 minutes.

The visitors nearly equalised in the 87th minute when a header from a corner was tipped over by the Znojmo goalkeeper. From the resulting corner, Znojmo cleared and held on through stoppage time to claim a narrow but deserved win.

Key moments

• 63' – Znojmo break the deadlock: A patient move ended with a low cross and a near-post finish.
• 87' – Znojmo goalkeeper saves: A powerful header from a corner was pushed over the bar.
• 90+3' – Znojmo hold on: The hosts defended the final set piece to secure the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Znojmo's 4-2-3-1 shape gave them control in midfield, but Tasovice's 5-4-1 block made central penetration difficult. The hosts were patient, switching play and waiting for gaps rather than forcing passes. That approach was rewarded with the goal, which came from exactly the kind of wide overload Znojmo had been trying to create.

Tasovice defended bravely and were dangerous from set pieces, but they struggled to sustain attacks in open play. Their late push produced the game's most dramatic moment, but Znojmo's goalkeeper and centre-backs dealt with the pressure.

Standout performers

Znojmo's central midfielder set the tempo and was involved in the build-up to the goal, while the goalkeeper's late save preserved the three points. The goalscorer's movement in the box was decisive. For Tasovice, the centre-back was excellent for long spells, winning several important duels and organising the back line.

Season impact

The win strengthens Znojmo's position in the Czech Fourth Division and gives them another clean sheet to build on. Tasovice can take encouragement from their defensive display, but they will need more attacking threat in away games if they are to turn narrow defeats into points. In a tight promotion race, Znojmo's ability to win without playing at their best could prove important.
