Pusta Polom edged Novy Jicin 3-2 in a pulsating Czech Fourth Division clash on September 27, 2026, producing one of the most entertaining scorelines of the matchday. Played under the lights with a 21:00 kick-off, the game swung back and forth before the hosts found a late winner to seal all three points in front of their home support. It was a result that highlighted Pusta Polom’s attacking intent and Novy Jicin’s resilience, but ultimately the home side’s extra quality in the final third made the difference.

Match Overview

From the opening whistle, Pusta Polom looked to impose themselves. The hosts pressed high, moved the ball quickly through midfield and tried to isolate their wide players against Novy Jicin’s full-backs. That approach paid off early when Jakub Řehák opened the scoring with a composed finish after a flowing move down the right. Novy Jicin responded well, though, and levelled through Lukáš Dostál, whose low strike beat the goalkeeper at the near post.

Pusta Polom regained the lead before half-time when Tomáš Vavřík arrived late in the box to convert a cross. But Novy Jicin refused to fold, and after the break they equalised again through Petr Konečný, setting up a tense final quarter. The decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute when Marek Sedláček pounced on a loose ball and fired home to make it 3-2.

Tactical Story

Pusta Polom lined up in a flexible 4-2-3-1 and used their full-backs aggressively, pinning Novy Jicin back for long spells. Their midfield duo screened the defence well enough to allow the attacking players to rotate freely. Novy Jicin, by contrast, favoured a more direct 4-4-2 and looked dangerous on the counter, especially when their strikers separated the centre-backs. The visitors’ equalisers came from moments when Pusta Polom lost concentration after scoring, but the home side’s late push finally broke them.

Standout Players

Jakub Řehák was central to Pusta Polom’s best work, linking midfield and attack with sharp movement. Marek Sedláček may have only had a few clear chances, but his match-winning finish showed composure under pressure. For Novy Jicin, Lukáš Dostál and Petr Konečný caused problems throughout, while their goalkeeper made two important saves to keep the score level deep into the second half.

Season Impact

The win gives Pusta Polom a valuable three-point boost in the Czech Fourth Division table and reinforces their reputation as a strong home side. For Novy Jicin, it is a frustrating result after twice coming back into the game; they leave with no points but with evidence that their attacking play can trouble teams in the division. The head-to-head now favours Pusta Polom, and both sides will carry very different emotions into their next fixtures.
