Karlovy Vary Dvory secured a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Hvezda Cheb in the Czech Fourth Division on 24 October 2026, with a late goal settling a tightly contested match.

The visitors started strongly and took the lead after a period of sustained pressure. A neat passing move opened up the Cheb defence, and Jakub Novák applied the finishing touch from inside the penalty area. Cheb responded well, though, and equalised before half-time when Martin Kučera headed home from a corner.

Match overview

The second half was an end-to-end affair, with both teams creating chances. Cheb pushed forward in search of a winner, but their attacking intent left gaps at the back. Karlovy Vary Dvory exploited those gaps on the counter, and their patience paid off late in the game when Petr Dvořák scored the decisive goal after a quick break down the left.

Cheb threw men forward in the closing stages, but Karlovy Vary Dvory defended resolutely and held on for an important three points. The result was a testament to the visitors’ organisation and their ability to take chances when they arrived.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Jakub Novák gives Karlovy Vary Dvory the lead with a composed finish.
• 41st minute: Martin Kučera equalises for Hvezda Cheb with a header from a corner.
• 76th minute: Petr Dvořák scores the winner on the counter-attack.
• 89th minute: Cheb’s final chance goes wide as the visitors see out the win.

Tactical story

Karlovy Vary Dvory set up with a compact defensive shape and looked to strike on the break. Their midfield worked hard to close down space, and their wide players provided an outlet whenever Cheb committed numbers forward. Cheb, meanwhile, dominated possession for long spells but struggled to break down a well-drilled defence.

The home side’s best moments came from set pieces, with Kučera’s equaliser a reward for their first-half pressure. However, their inability to convert territorial advantage into clear chances proved costly. Karlovy Vary Dvory’s clinical counter-attacking ultimately decided the contest.

Standout performers

Jakub Novák was influential throughout, scoring the opener and linking play effectively. Petr Dvořák made the difference with the winning goal, while goalkeeper Tomáš Horák made two important saves to protect the lead. For Cheb, Martin Kučera was their standout player, scoring the equaliser and causing problems from set pieces.

What it means

The victory strengthens Karlovy Vary Dvory’s position in the Czech Fourth Division and underlines their ability to win away from home. Hvezda Cheb will be disappointed to lose after a strong first-half display, but they can take encouragement from their attacking intent. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round, with Karlovy Vary Dvory looking to build on a valuable three points and Cheb aiming to turn possession into results.
