Bridlicna 0-1 Valasske Mezirici: Visitors Take Narrow Czech Fourth Division Win

Valasske Mezirici claimed a 1-0 away victory over Bridlicna in the Czech Fourth Division on Saturday, 24 October 2026, with a second-half goal and a resilient defensive performance securing all three points.

The match was decided by a single moment of quality in the 52nd minute, but Valasske Mezirici’s goalkeeper played an equally important role with a series of late saves. Bridlicna pushed hard for an equaliser but were left frustrated by a compact and well-organised visiting side.

Match overview

Bridlicna began the match with plenty of energy, pressing high and forcing Valasske Mezirici into several early clearances. The home side enjoyed more possession in the first half but struggled to create clear chances against a disciplined back four.

Valasske Mezirici grew into the game and struck early in the second half. A quick counter-attack released Radek Kovář on the left side of the penalty area, and he finished calmly past the goalkeeper to give his side the lead. Bridlicna responded with sustained pressure, but the visitors defended their box with determination and relied on their goalkeeper to protect the advantage.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: Bridlicna’s first clear chance, a header from a cross, was saved comfortably by Tomáš Hrubý.
• 52nd minute: Radek Kovář scores the only goal of the game after a fast Valasske Mezirici counter-attack.
• 68th minute: Bridlicna threatened from a corner, but the header was cleared off the line.
• 84th minute: Tomáš Hrubý made a brilliant double save to deny Bridlicna an equaliser.
• 90+2 minutes: A last-ditch clearance relieved the pressure as Valasske Mezirici held on.

Tactical story

Bridlicna tried to build patiently from the back and use their wingers to create width, but Valasske Mezirici’s midfield stayed compact and closed the central passing lanes. The home side often resorted to crosses, which the visiting centre-backs dealt with well for much of the afternoon.

Valasske Mezirici sat deeper after taking the lead, inviting pressure but remaining dangerous on the break. Their 4-2-3-1 shape became more of a 4-4-2 without the ball, and the discipline of their defensive block frustrated Bridlicna’s attempts to find an equaliser.

Standout players

Radek Kovář was the match-winner for Valasske Mezirici, showing great composure for the decisive goal. Goalkeeper Tomáš Hrubý was equally important, making several key saves in the second half. For Bridlicna, midfielder Petr Malý worked tirelessly and was at the heart of their best attacking moves.

Season impact

The victory gives Valasske Mezirici a valuable three points in the Czech Fourth Division standings and boosts their confidence ahead of a difficult run of fixtures. Bridlicna remain in search of consistency and will need to turn possession into goals if they are to climb the table. In a division where away wins are often hard to come by, this result could prove important by the end of the season.
