Kunovice and FK Vigantice played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Czech Fifth League on 18 October 2026, with a late equaliser denying the hosts a hard-fought home victory. The match was a classic fifth-tier contest: competitive, physical, and full of shifts in momentum that kept the outcome uncertain until the final whistle.

Kunovice started brightly and looked the more composed side in possession during the opening half-hour. FK Vigantice, however, grew into the game and showed why they are capable of troubling teams with their direct approach. By the end, both camps could point to spells of superiority, making the share of the points a fair reflection of the 90 minutes.

Match overview

Kunovice took the lead in the 18th minute when Jakub Říha found space at the edge of the box and placed a low shot beyond the goalkeeper. The hosts continued to press and created two further chances before the break, but FK Vigantice weathered the storm and equalised in the 35th minute through Ondřej Tomek, who finished neatly after a quick counter-attack.

The second half was more open. Kunovice regained the lead in the 73rd minute when Marek Vávra headed home from a corner, sparking loud celebrations from the home support. It looked as though that goal might be enough, but FK Vigantice pushed forward in the closing stages and were rewarded in the 88th minute when Lukáš Hrubý converted a rebound after a goalmouth scramble.

The final whistle confirmed a 2-2 draw, a result that leaves both teams with mixed feelings. Kunovice will be disappointed to concede so late, while FK Vigantice will take encouragement from their resilience and ability to create chances under pressure.

• 18th minute: Jakub Říha gives Kunovice the lead with a composed finish from the edge of the area.
• 35th minute: Ondřej Tomek equalises for FK Vigantice after a swift counter-attack.

Tactical story

Kunovice’s game plan centred on controlling possession and using the width of the pitch to stretch FK Vigantice’s defence. Their midfield worked hard to recycle the ball, and the set-piece routine that produced Vávra’s goal was clearly a well-rehearsed weapon. The hosts’ main issue was game management: after taking the lead for the second time, they dropped deeper than intended and invited pressure.

FK Vigantice, by contrast, were at their best when playing direct. Their equaliser in the first half came from a rapid transition, and their late goal was the product of persistence and willingness to put bodies into the box. The visitors’ ability to respond twice from behind demonstrated character, even if their defensive shape was stretched at times.

Standout performers

Říha was Kunovice’s most influential attacking player, linking play intelligently and opening the scoring with a finish of real quality. Vávra’s aerial threat made him a constant danger from set pieces, and his header looked set to be the match-winner. In midfield, Kunovice’s captain set the tempo with a disciplined passing display.

For FK Vigantice, Tomek and Hrubý were the heroes. Tomek’s first-half equaliser changed the mood of the match, while Hrubý’s late intervention underlined his team’s never-say-die attitude. The goalkeeper also made two important saves in the second half to keep the deficit manageable before the late equaliser arrived.

Season impact

The draw adds another point to both teams’ tallies in the Czech Fifth League and highlights how competitive the division can be. Kunovice will look to turn home dominance into victories in their next fixtures, while FK Vigantice can build on a performance that showed both resilience and attacking intent. In a league where fine margins often decide promotion and relegation battles, this 2-2 result could prove more valuable than it first appears.
