FC Velim claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away victory at AFK Tuchlovice in the Czech Fifth League on Saturday, 26 September 2026. A solitary goal proved enough in a tense, tightly contested match that was decided by a moment of quality in the final third.

Match overview

Tuchlovice enjoyed more of the ball in the opening stages, patiently building from the back and looking to use their wide players to stretch Velim’s defence. However, clear chances were hard to come by, as Velim defended in a compact block and closed down space in midfield. The visitors grew into the game and began to carry a threat on the counter-attack.

The decisive moment arrived in the second half. Velim won possession in midfield, moved the ball quickly to the right and delivered a precise cross that was turned in at the near post. Tuchlovice pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Velim’s goalkeeper produced a string of saves to protect the lead.

Key moments

• Decisive goal: A swift counter-attack and a near-post finish gave Velim the lead.
• Goalkeeping heroics: Velim’s goalkeeper denied Tuchlovice with two excellent stops late on.
• Disallowed effort: Tuchlovice had the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
• Late pressure: A series of corners tested Velim’s defence, but they held firm.

Tactical story

Tuchlovice set up with a possession-based 4-3-3, looking to dominate the ball and create overloads in wide areas. Velim responded with a disciplined 4-4-2, dropping into a mid-block and looking to spring forward when turnovers occurred. The visitors’ willingness to defend deep and counter at speed ultimately made the difference, while Tuchlovice’s final ball lacked the precision needed to break down a stubborn back line.

Standout players

Velim’s goalscorer was the match-winner, showing excellent movement to meet the cross and finish under pressure. Their goalkeeper was equally important, making crucial saves in the closing stages. For Tuchlovice, the central midfielder worked tirelessly and tried to drive the team forward, while the right winger delivered several dangerous crosses that just lacked a finishing touch.

Season impact

The three points give FC Velim a valuable away win and a confidence boost in the Czech Fifth League. AFK Tuchlovice will be disappointed to take nothing from a game in which they had plenty of possession, but they will know that sharper finishing would have changed the outcome.
