FC Zlín Ease Past MFK Havířov in Czech Cup

FC Zlín secured a convincing 4-0 victory over MFK Havířov in the Czech Cup on 16 September 2026, advancing to the next round with a controlled and professional display. Zlín's superior quality was evident throughout, as they scored in both halves and never allowed their hosts to settle.

Match Overview

FC Zlín started brightly and took the game to MFK Havířov from the first whistle. Their midfield dominated possession, and their forwards constantly found space between the lines. Havířov worked hard to stay in the match, but they struggled to keep the ball under pressure and were forced into a deep defensive shape for long periods.

Zlín took the lead in the 14th minute and added a second before half-time to take full control. The second half was more of the same, with Zlín managing the game well and adding two more goals to complete a comfortable win. Havířov had a few half-chances on the counter, but they never seriously threatened a comeback.

Tactical Story

FC Zlín set up in a 4-2-3-1 system designed to control midfield and create overloads in wide areas. Their two central midfielders dictated the rhythm, while the attacking trio rotated frequently to pull the Havířov defense out of position. Zlín's full-backs pushed forward aggressively, pinning Havířov deep in their own half.

MFK Havířov defended in a compact 5-4-1 block, hoping to frustrate Zlín and hit on the break. However, their clearances were often intercepted, and they struggled to support their lone striker. Zlín's patience in possession and willingness to switch play from side to side eventually wore down the home side.

Standout Players

Tomáš Poznar led the line impressively for FC Zlín, scoring the opener and linking play intelligently. Vukadin Vukadinović was a constant threat with his dribbling and direct running, while Antonín Fantiš and Martin Nečas added goals from midfield and set pieces. For Havířov, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score from becoming even more one-sided.

Cup Impact

FC Zlín move into the next round of the Czech Cup with confidence and a clean sheet. The performance highlighted their attacking depth and ability to handle lower-league opposition professionally. MFK Havířov exit the competition but can take pride in reaching a stage where they tested themselves against a strong professional club.
