FK Jablonec secured a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory away at FC Zbrojovka Brno in the Czech Chance Liga on October 10, 2026. A stunning second-half strike from Tomáš Novák was enough to separate the sides in a match that was short on clear chances but high on tactical discipline.

Match Overview

Zbrojovka Brno dominated possession for large periods but found themselves frustrated by a well-organised Jablonec defence. The visitors sat deep, conceded the ball, and looked to hit on the break. That strategy paid off in the 72nd minute when Novák unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards. Brno threw everything forward in the closing stages, but Jablonec's goalkeeper and centre-backs stood firm to claim a valuable three points on the road.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute – Brno chance: The hosts' best opportunity of the first half fell to striker Jakub Řezníček, but his header from six yards was tipped over the bar by Jablonec goalkeeper Vlastimil Hrubý.
• 72nd minute – Jablonec goal: Tomáš Novák collected a loose ball 25 yards from goal, took a touch to set himself, and rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner. The Brno goalkeeper had no chance.
• 85th minute – Brno pressure: A series of corners caused panic in the Jablonec box, but a goal-line clearance from defender David Štěpánek kept the lead intact.
• 90+4 minutes – Full time: Jablonec celebrated a hard-fought away win.

Tactical Story

Jablonec lined up in a defensive 5-3-2 formation, with the wing-backs rarely venturing forward. Brno, playing a 4-2-3-1, struggled to find space between the lines. Their playmaker, Adam Hložek, was tightly marked by Jablonec's midfield destroyer, Lukáš Masopust. The game became a battle of attrition, and Jablonec's willingness to soak up pressure and strike on the counter proved decisive. Brno's manager made attacking substitutions, but the lack of width and creativity from the flanks meant their crosses were easily cleared.

Standout Players

Tomáš Novák (Jablonec): The match-winner with a moment of pure brilliance. His work rate off the ball was also impressive.
Vlastimil Hrubý (Jablonec): Made three crucial saves, including a first-half stop that kept the scores level.
David Štěpánek (Jablonec): A rock at the heart of defence, making 11 clearances and winning every aerial duel.
Jakub Řezníček (Zbrojovka Brno): Brno's most threatening player, but he was starved of service for long periods.

Table Impact

Jablonec moves up to eighth in the Chance Liga, keeping their hopes of a top-six finish alive. For Zbrojovka Brno, the defeat leaves them perilously close to the relegation play-off spot. Their lack of goals from open play is becoming a serious concern, and the pressure is mounting on the manager to find a solution before the winter break.
