Liaoning Shenbei Hefeng Women 1-1 Wuhan Jiangda Women: Points Shared in CFA Women's Super League

Liaoning Shenbei Hefeng Women and Wuhan Jiangda Women played out a competitive 1-1 draw in the CFA Women's Super League on 18 October 2026, with both sides scoring in a match that remained finely balanced from start to finish.

Liaoning made a bright start in front of their home supporters, pressing high and looking to turn early possession into chances. Wuhan Jiangda, one of the established powers in the Chinese women's top flight, grew into the contest and responded well after falling behind. The draw adds a useful point to both campaigns, though neither side was able to claim the extra momentum a victory would have brought.

Match Overview

The opening exchanges were played at a good tempo, with Liaoning eager to impose themselves and Wuhan content to probe for gaps in behind. The home side's energy was rewarded in the 27th minute when Li Mengyu finished calmly after a quick move down the right. Liaoning's wide players stretched the Wuhan back line, and the early goal gave the home team confidence to keep pushing forward.

Wuhan's response was measured rather than frantic. The visitors began to dominate the ball in midfield and created several half-chances before equalising in the 41st minute. Chen Jiayi met a delivery into the box with a well-directed header, giving the Liaoning goalkeeper little chance and sending the teams into half-time level.

Key Moments

• 27th minute: Liaoning Shenbei Hefeng Women take the lead through Li Mengyu after a sharp attacking move on the right.
• 41st minute: Wuhan Jiangda Women equalise through Chen Jiayi's header from a dangerous cross.
• Second half: Wuhan enjoy more possession, but Liaoning defend with discipline and remain dangerous on the counter.
• Late stages: Both goalkeepers make important interventions as the match opens up in the final 15 minutes.

Tactical Story

Liaoning's approach was built on compact defending and fast transitions. The home side looked to win the ball in midfield and release their wide forwards into space, a plan that produced the opening goal and several promising breaks after the interval. Without the ball, Liaoning worked hard to deny Wuhan space in central areas and forced the visitors to play around them rather than through them.

Wuhan Jiangda controlled long spells of possession and looked most dangerous when their full-backs pushed high to support the attack. The equaliser came from exactly that kind of wide pressure, with the cross arriving before Liaoning could fully reset. In the second half, Wuhan increased the tempo and created enough chances to win the game, but Liaoning's defensive organisation and willingness to defend their box kept the score level.

Standout Performers

Li Mengyu's goal was the highlight of Liaoning's performance, but the home side's midfield also deserved credit for the way it limited Wuhan's central creativity. The Liaoning goalkeeper made a handful of important saves, particularly during a spell of sustained Wuhan pressure after the hour mark. For Wuhan, Chen Jiayi was a constant threat in the attacking third, while the visitors' midfield kept the team moving forward even when Liaoning sat deeper.

What the Result Means

The draw leaves Liaoning Shenbei Hefeng Women with a hard-earned point against one of the stronger sides in the CFA Women's Super League. It is the kind of result that can build confidence, especially given the way the home team defended under pressure. For Wuhan Jiangda Women, the match will be viewed as an opportunity missed in the pursuit of the upper reaches of the standings, though the performance showed plenty of attacking intent.

Both teams now turn their attention to the next round of league fixtures, where consistency will be key. Liaoning will look to carry their home resilience into their next outing, while Wuhan will focus on converting possession into more decisive finishing.
