Wuhan Sports University Women and Chongqing Women played out a competitive 1-1 draw in the CFA Women’s League One on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Wuhan took a first-half lead through Zhang Lin, but Chongqing responded after the break with a well-taken equaliser from Li Yue, ensuring the points were shared at the Wuhan Sports University Stadium.

Match Overview

Wuhan Sports University Women started the match with purpose, pressing high and moving the ball quickly through midfield. Their early dominance paid off in the 23rd minute when Zhang Lin latched onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area and drove a low shot into the bottom corner. The home side continued to create chances, with winger Liu Yan causing problems down the right flank.

Chongqing Women, however, remained patient. They defended in a compact 4-4-2 block and looked to hit Wuhan on the counter-attack. Their persistence was rewarded in the 58th minute when Li Yue timed her run perfectly to meet a through-ball, rounded the goalkeeper, and rolled the ball into an empty net. Both teams pushed for a winner in the final half-hour, but resolute defending and some sharp goalkeeping kept the score level.

Tactical Story

Wuhan set up in a 4-3-3 formation, looking to use width and quick combinations in the final third. Their midfield trio controlled the first half, but as the game wore on, they struggled to maintain the same intensity. Chongqing’s 4-4-2 shape became more effective after the break, with their two banks of four frustrating Wuhan’s creative players.

Chongqing’s equaliser came from a classic counter-attacking move. They absorbed pressure, won the ball in midfield, and released Li Yue with a perfectly weighted pass. From that point on, Chongqing looked the more likely side to score again, but Wuhan’s defence held firm under late pressure.

Standout Players

Zhang Lin was Wuhan’s brightest attacking threat, combining well with Liu Yan and scoring a technically difficult opener. Chen Jiali also impressed in goal, making several important saves, especially in the second half.

For Chongqing, Li Yue was the standout performer. Her movement and finishing were excellent, and she constantly stretched the Wuhan back line. Midfielder Wang Meng also had a strong game, breaking up play and launching counters.

Season Impact

The draw leaves Wuhan Sports University Women in seventh place in the CFA Women’s League One standings with 24 points, while Chongqing Women sit ninth on 19 points. Both sides remain in the middle of a tightly packed table, and every point will matter as they aim to finish the season strongly. Wuhan will feel they let two points slip, while Chongqing will take confidence from a disciplined away performance.
