Tactical Story

Shanghai Women B lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, using their youthful energy to press high and disrupt Shenhua’s build-up. Their early goal came from exactly that intensity, and they continued to create half-chances through quick transitions. However, their lack of experience showed when they conceded a penalty and then failed to manage the game after Shenhua equalised.

Shenhua, playing a 4-2-3-1, controlled possession for long periods but struggled to break down a well-organised defence in the first half. After the break, their midfield duo began to win more second balls, and the introduction of fresh legs on the wings stretched the Women B defence. The winning goal was a perfect example of Shenhua’s patience and quality in the final third.

Standout Players

Li Jia was Shenhua’s talisman, winning and converting the penalty before playing a key role in the winning goal. Wang Fei showed great composure for her late strike, while centre-back Chen Rui was solid at the back, snuffing out several dangerous attacks.

For Shanghai Women B, Zhang Yuning was the standout, taking her goal excellently and causing problems with her movement. Goalkeeper Zhao Min also made a string of fine saves to keep the score respectable.

Season Impact

The win keeps Shanghai Shenhua Women in third place with 31 points, firmly in the race for the CFA Women’s League One title. Shanghai Women B remain in mid-table on 18 points, but their performance against a stronger, more experienced side showed plenty of promise for the future. For Shenhua, the derby victory is more than just three points — it is a statement of intent as the season reaches its decisive phase.
