Shanghai Port emphatically claimed bragging rights in the city derby with a dominant 2–0 victory over Shanghai Shenhua at the Pudong Stadium. A first-half strike from Brazilian attacker Oscar and a second-half header from Wu Lei secured the three points, keeping Port firmly in the title race and handing Shenhua their third consecutive away defeat.

The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 42,000, with the electric atmosphere befitting one of the league's fiercest rivalries. Port started brightly and took a deserved lead in the 23rd minute when Oscar curled a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner after Shenhua's Muzepper had fouled just outside the box.

Wu Lei seals derby delight
Port doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second half. A sweeping move down the right flank saw right-back Wang Shenchao deliver a pinpoint cross that Wu Lei met with a powerful header, leaving Shenhua goalkeeper Zeng Cheng with no chance. The goal was Wu Lei’s 14th of the season, moving him into second place in the Super League scoring charts.

Shenhua struggled to create clear opportunities throughout the evening. Star striker Cephas Malele was well marshalled by Port's central defensive duo of Li Ang and Zhang Linpeng, while midfielder Peng Xinli was substituted after an ineffective hour. Shenhua manager Wu Jingui admitted after the match that his side "did not deserve anything from the game."

Title race tightens
The result lifted Shanghai Port to 47 points, just one behind league leaders Shandong Taishan, who face a tricky trip to Beijing Guoan next week. For Shenhua, the defeat leaves them in seventh place with 33 points, a significant step back from their top-four ambitions. Port's depth and big‑game temperament once again proved decisive, and they will travel to Chengdu Rongcheng next round full of confidence.
