Chengdu Rongcheng 0-1 Dalian Yingbo — Dalian Yingbo produced a disciplined away performance to beat Chengdu Rongcheng 1-0 in the Chinese Super League on 24 October 2026, with substitute Chen Xingyu scoring the only goal at Phoenix Mountain Sports Park.

Match overview

Chengdu Rongcheng went into the match looking to turn possession into sustained pressure, while Dalian Yingbo sat deep and looked to strike on the break. The home side saw more of the ball and forced a series of corners, but Dalian’s back five stayed compact and limited clear sights of goal. The decisive moment arrived in the 63rd minute when Wang Zhen’ao accelerated down the right and cut the ball back for Chen Xingyu, who guided a low finish past the goalkeeper.

The result gave Dalian Yingbo three valuable away points and handed Chengdu Rongcheng a frustrating home defeat in the Chinese Super League standings. Chengdu pushed numbers forward late on, but Dalian’s defensive discipline and goalkeeping held firm through four minutes of stoppage time.

Key moments

• 18' — Chengdu’s first clear chance: a header from a left-wing corner drifted just wide of the far post.
• 37' — Dalian goalkeeper Zhang Lei saved low to his right after a sharp shot from the edge of the box.
• 63' — Goal. Wang Zhen’ao broke down the right and picked out Chen Xingyu, whose first-time finish made it 0-1.
• 78' — Chengdu pushed men forward, but Dalian defender Liu Junshuai blocked a goalbound effort inside the area.
• 90+4' — A late Chengdu free-kick was headed over as Dalian held on for the win.

Tactical story

Chengdu’s 4-2-3-1 shape gave them control in midfield, but Dalian’s 5-4-1 block protected the central corridor and forced the hosts wide. Chengdu’s full-backs advanced regularly, yet Dalian’s wing-backs tracked those runs well and the visitors were happy to concede possession in harmless areas. When Dalian won the ball, they looked to transition quickly through Wang Zhen’ao and Chen Xingyu, and that combination produced the breakthrough.

For Chengdu, the challenge was breaking down a low block without leaving space behind. Their midfielders circulated the ball patiently, but too many crosses were met by Dalian’s centre-backs. As the game wore on, Chengdu committed more players forward, and Dalian’s willingness to defend their box in numbers made the final 20 minutes uncomfortable for the home crowd.

Standout players

Chen Xingyu’s match-winning finish was the obvious highlight, but Wang Zhen’ao’s direct running and delivery were equally important for Dalian Yingbo. Goalkeeper Zhang Lei made two composed saves and commanded his area well, while Liu Junshuai produced a crucial late block. For Chengdu Rongcheng, Li Haoran was the most persistent attacking threat, linking play between midfield and the forward line, though he lacked the final service to change the result.

What the result means

Dalian Yingbo leave with three points and a significant boost to their league position, while Chengdu Rongcheng miss the chance to strengthen their standing in the Chinese Super League table. The 0-1 scoreline reflects a match of fine margins: Chengdu had the bulk of possession, but Dalian had the organization, the cleaner chances and the decisive moment. For Chengdu, the focus will be on converting territorial control into clearer opportunities; for Dalian, the performance is a blueprint for away-day resilience.
