HNK Gorica U19 1-0 Hajduk Split U19 — HNK Gorica U19 secured an impressive 1-0 home win over Hajduk Split U19 in the Croatian U19 League on 25 October 2026, using a second-half goal and a resilient defensive effort to take all three points.

Gorica take a valuable win against a strong academy side

Matches against Hajduk Split U19 are always a significant test for Croatian youth teams, and Gorica met the challenge with maturity. The home side defended with concentration, limited Hajduk’s space in the final third and found the breakthrough just after half-time. From there, Gorica protected their advantage with a disciplined collective performance.

The first half was closely fought. Hajduk enjoyed more possession and tried to impose their passing game, but Gorica’s compact shape made it difficult for the visitors to create clean shooting opportunities. Gorica’s best moments came from quick transitions, with their wide players looking to run into space behind Hajduk’s full-backs.

Key moments

• 12’ — Hajduk send a free-kick over the crossbar from a promising position.
• 29’ — Gorica break quickly, but the Hajduk goalkeeper makes a strong save at the near post.
• 54’ — Gorica score the opener with a header from a right-side cross.
• 71’ — Hajduk work an opening at the edge of the box, but the shot drifts wide.
• 88’ — Gorica’s goalkeeper makes a crucial late save to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical story: discipline and transitions

Gorica’s game plan was clear: stay compact, deny central space and attack with purpose when possession was won. Their midfield worked hard to screen the defence, while the back line dealt well with crosses and second balls. Hajduk moved the ball side to side in search of gaps, but Gorica’s structure held firm for long spells.

The goal changed the psychology of the match. Hajduk pushed more players forward, which opened space for Gorica to counter, but the home side also showed good judgment in knowing when to slow the game down. Their late defending was brave, with blocks and clearances coming from several players, not just the back four.

Standout performers and what it means

Gorica’s goalkeeper was central to the result, particularly with the late save that denied Hajduk an equaliser. The goalscorer’s movement in the box was another highlight, while the midfield’s energy gave the home side a platform throughout.

The result adds confidence to Gorica’s Croatian U19 League campaign and underlines their ability to compete against one of the country’s strongest youth setups. For Hajduk Split U19, it is a frustrating afternoon in front of goal, but the performance still showed spells of control that they will look to turn into more decisive chances in their next fixtures.
