First Half: Pumas Set the Tone Early

Pumas U21 needed only seven minutes to open the scoring, with forward Santiago López finishing off a slick move through the middle. The early goal forced Huracanes to come out of their defensive shell, and that only created more space for Pumas to exploit.

López doubled the lead in the 19th minute after pressing a defender into a mistake and finishing from close range. The third goal arrived in the 33rd minute, this time through attacking midfielder Emiliano Cruz, who arrived at the edge of the box and struck a low drive into the bottom corner. At 3-0 before halftime, the contest was already slipping away from Huracanes Izcalli FC.

Second Half: No Letup From Pumas U21

If Huracanes hoped a halftime reset would change the momentum, Pumas quickly erased that idea. In the 64th minute, Jorge Medina made it 4-0 with a header from a well-delivered corner. The fifth came in the 72nd minute when López completed his hat-trick, capping a clinical individual performance.

Pumas U21 added a sixth in the 85th minute through substitute Diego Herrera, who raced onto a through ball and slotted past the goalkeeper. By the final whistle, the visitors had recorded a comprehensive victory and kept a clean sheet to go with their six goals.

Tactical Story

Pumas U21 lined up in a fluid 4-2-3-1 that overwhelmed Huracanes in central areas. Their midfield pair consistently won second balls, while the attacking trio rotated positions to drag defenders out of shape. Pumas also pressed aggressively after losing possession, which prevented Huracanes from building any sustained attacks.

Huracanes Izcalli FC set up in a 5-3-2 designed to protect the middle, but the early concession disrupted those plans. Once they were forced to press higher, Pumas found space behind the wing-backs and repeatedly attacked the channels. The result was a match in which Huracanes spent long stretches chasing the ball and defending inside their own half.

Standout Players

• Santiago López: Scored a hat-trick and led the line with sharp movement and composed finishing.
• Emiliano Cruz: Pulled the strings in midfield and added a well-taken goal.
• Jorge Medina: Dominated aerial duels and scored the fourth goal from a set piece.
• Diego Herrera: Came off the bench to complete the scoring and underline Pumas’ squad depth.

What the Result Means

A 6-0 away victory also builds confidence and reinforces their reputation as one of the most dangerous attacking sides in the competition.

For Huracanes Izcalli FC, the defeat is a painful lesson. Conceding six goals at home will demand a full review of their defensive organization, set-piece marking and ability to cope with high pressing. In a tournament where every point and every goal counts, Pumas U21 left with maximum reward, while Huracanes were left searching for answers.
