Malaga eased past Sporting Alcazar with a controlled 3-0 win in the Copa del Rey, blending patience with clinical finishing to avoid any hint of a giant-killing. The visitors managed the game expertly, absorbing early energy from the hosts before steadily imposing their superior quality on the contest.

Match overview

Sporting Alcazar began brightly in front of their home support, pressing with energy and trying to disrupt Malaga’s rhythm. That approach made the opening quarter competitive, but once Malaga settled into possession they began to find gaps between the lines. The first goal changed the mood inside the ground, and the away side never looked back.

After the break, Malaga’s control became more pronounced. They circulated the ball with purpose, drew Alcazar out of shape and created chances at regular intervals. The hosts kept working until the final whistle, but the physical and technical gap between the teams was clear.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Malaga broke the deadlock with a composed finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.
• 55th minute: A well-worked move down the right ended with a close-range finish for the second goal.
• 84th minute: Malaga added a third late on, rounding off a sweeping counter-attack.

Tactical story

Malaga’s approach was built on patient build-up and intelligent movement. Their midfielders constantly rotated positions, making it difficult for Alcazar to track runners. The visitors also used their full-backs aggressively, stretching the home defence and creating space for crosses and cut-backs.

Alcazar defended with determination and tried to spring forward on the break. Their best moments came from set pieces and long balls over the top, but they lacked the final pass to truly trouble Malaga’s goalkeeper. As the game wore on, the hosts’ compact shape began to break down under sustained pressure.

Standout players

Malaga’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of most positive moves, linking play and finding teammates in dangerous areas. The centre-forward led the line well, occupying defenders and bringing others into the game. For Alcazar, the goalkeeper made several smart saves, while the captain in defence produced a committed display despite the scoreline.
