Ribadesella CF Edge SD Noja in Copa del Rey Tie

Ribadesella CF advanced in the Copa del Rey with a narrow 1-0 win over SD Noja on September 27, 2026. A single goal settled a tense knockout encounter, sending the home supporters home happy and ending SD Noja’s cup hopes for another season.

Cup football often rewards teams that defend well and take their chances, and that was exactly the story here. Ribadesella CF scored the decisive goal and then protected it with a disciplined defensive performance, frustrating SD Noja’s attempts to find an equaliser.

Match Overview

The game began at a high tempo, with both sides aware that a single mistake could decide the tie. Ribadesella looked to use their home advantage, pressing SD Noja high and forcing turnovers in midfield. SD Noja, meanwhile, tried to settle possession and build attacks patiently, but they found it difficult to create clear openings.

The only goal came from a well-worked move, giving Ribadesella the lead and forcing SD Noja to chase the game. As the visitors pushed more players forward, spaces appeared, but Ribadesella’s back line stayed composed and dealt with the danger.

Key Moments

• Decisive goal: Ribadesella CF found the breakthrough with a composed finish after building pressure.
• SD Noja response: The visitors increased their tempo and delivered more crosses into the box.
• Goalkeeping heroics: Ribadesella’s goalkeeper made key saves to preserve the clean sheet.
• Final whistle: Ribadesella managed the closing minutes well to secure progression in the Copa del Rey.

Tactical Story

Ribadesella CF set up with a compact shape and looked to attack quickly when they won the ball. Their midfield worked hard to close down passing lanes, and their defensive line stepped up at the right moments to catch SD Noja offside. The goal gave them something to defend, and they did so with intelligence rather than panic.

SD Noja had more possession in the second half but struggled to turn it into meaningful chances. Their wingers delivered several dangerous balls, yet the final touch was missing. Ribadesella’s defenders blocked shots, cleared crosses, and won the important second balls in the box.

Standout Performers

Ribadesella’s goalkeeper was the obvious hero, making crucial saves in the second half. The centre-backs also deserve praise for their aerial dominance and calm decision-making. In midfield, Ribadesella’s captain set the tone with energy and leadership. For SD Noja, the central midfielder tried to drive the team forward, but the lack of a cutting edge proved decisive.

What’s Next

Ribadesella CF can now look forward to the next round of the Copa del Rey, where they will hope for another home draw or a memorable away trip. SD Noja will turn their attention back to league duties, knowing that their cup exit, while disappointing, can be softened by a strong run of results in the coming weeks.
