Sporting Cristal produced a devastating attacking performance to dismantle AD Tarma 5-0 in their Copa de la Liga fixture at the Estadio Alberto Gallardo on Friday, October 2, 2026. The emphatic win strengthens Cristal's position at the top of the table and extends their unbeaten run to six matches.

First-Half Onslaught

Sporting Cristal started with intensity, pressing AD Tarma high and forcing errors. The breakthrough came in the 14th minute when Martín Cauteruccio pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted home. The Argentine striker doubled his tally in the 28th minute, heading in a pinpoint cross from Joao Grimaldo. Tarma's defence was in disarray, and Cristal added a third in the 41st minute through Yoshimar Yotún, who curled a free-kick into the top corner.

The half-time score of 3-0 was no more than Cristal deserved, with Tarma struggling to string two passes together.

Second Half: No Mercy

Cristal continued where they left off. In the 55th minute, Grimaldo turned scorer, finishing off a rapid counter-attack. Cauteruccio then completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty after a foul on substitute Irven Ávila. The goal was his 15th of the season, making him the top scorer in the competition.

AD Tarma, who had no answer to Cristal's movement and pace, were reduced to damage limitation. They managed just two shots on target all evening.

Tactical Analysis

Sporting Cristal set up in a 4-3-3, with Cauteruccio as the central striker and Grimaldo and Ávila providing width. Their midfield trio of Yotún, Jesús Pretell, and Gustavo Cazon controlled the tempo, while the full-backs pushed high to create overloads. AD Tarma lined up in a 5-3-2, hoping to defend deep and counter, but they were overwhelmed by Cristal's relentless pressing.

The stats reflect the dominance: 72% possession for Cristal, 24 shots to 4, and 12 corners to 1. It was a masterclass in attacking football.

Standout Players

• Martín Cauteruccio (Sporting Cristal): A hat-trick and an assist – a complete centre-forward performance.
• Joao Grimaldo (Sporting Cristal): Electric pace and direct running, capped with a goal and an assist.
• Yoshimar Yotún (Sporting Cristal): Dictated play from midfield and scored a stunning free-kick.

Table Impact

With this win, Sporting Cristal moves three points clear at the top of the Copa de la Liga standings. Their goal difference is now +18, the best in the competition. AD Tarma, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone and have now lost four consecutive matches. Cristal next face a difficult away trip to Universitario, while Tarma host Cienciano in a must-win game.
