French Saint-Martin produced a ruthless display to thrash the US Virgin Islands 5-0 in their CONCACAF Nations League encounter at the Lionel Roberts Stadium on Friday, October 2, 2026. The comprehensive victory sends a clear message to the rest of League C, while the USVI are left searching for answers after a defensive collapse.

First-Half Blitz Sets the Tone

French Saint-Martin came out of the blocks with intent, pressing high and moving the ball quickly. The US Virgin Islands, playing in front of a home crowd, were immediately on the back foot. The deadlock was broken in the 12th minute when K. Zephirin fired home from the edge of the box after a neat lay-off. Just six minutes later, Zephirin doubled his tally, converting a penalty after a foul on R. Delgado.

The USVI tried to respond, but their midfield was overrun. French Saint-Martin added a third in the 34th minute, with Delgado finishing off a sweeping team move. The half-time whistle brought little relief for the hosts, who trailed 3-0.

Second Half: No Let-Up

Any hopes of a USVI comeback were dashed in the 52nd minute when Zephirin completed his hat-trick with a clinical header from a corner. The USVI defence, already stretched, had no answer to his movement. French Saint-Martin continued to dominate possession and created several more chances before M. Serbin added a fifth in the 78th minute with a powerful drive from outside the box.

To their credit, the USVI never stopped running, but they rarely threatened the French Saint-Martin goal. Their best chance came in the 85th minute when a free-kick was tipped over the bar.

Tactical Story

French Saint-Martin lined up in a 4-2-3-1, with Zephirin as the focal point. Their two holding midfielders controlled the game, allowing the full-backs to push high and create overloads. The USVI, in a 4-4-2, struggled to cope with the movement of French Saint-Martin's attacking players. Their defensive line was often too deep, inviting pressure.

The stats tell the story: French Saint-Martin had 68% possession, 21 shots to 3, and 10 shots on target to 1. It was a complete performance.

Standout Performers

• K. Zephirin (French Saint-Martin): A stunning hat-trick, showcasing his finishing ability and movement.
• R. Delgado (French Saint-Martin): Scored one and assisted two, pulling the strings in midfield.
• USVI goalkeeper: Made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

Table Impact

With this win, French Saint-Martin moves to the top of League C Group A with a superior goal difference. The US Virgin Islands remain without a point and have now conceded 11 goals in their last three matches. They will need a major turnaround to avoid finishing bottom of the group. French Saint-Martin, meanwhile, look like serious contenders for promotion to League B.
