Bonaire 1-2 Saint Kitts and Nevis: Sugar Boyz Complete Away Comeback

Saint Kitts and Nevis came from behind to defeat Bonaire 2-1 in the CONCACAF Nations League on September 26, 2026. The Sugar Boyz produced a strong second-half response after conceding early, turning a difficult away fixture into an important three points.

Match Overview

Bonaire started brightly in front of their home supporters, pressing with energy and looking to disrupt Saint Kitts and Nevis’ rhythm. Their early pressure paid off when they took the lead, and for a while, the visitors struggled to find space in the final third. But Saint Kitts and Nevis gradually settled, improved their passing angles, and began to pin Bonaire back.

The second half was a different story. Saint Kitts and Nevis raised their tempo, won more duels in midfield, and created a series of chances. Their persistence was rewarded with two goals, completing a comeback that keeps their Nations League campaign on track.

Key Moments

• 18th minute: Bonaire took the lead through Rilove Janga, who finished calmly after a quick exchange on the edge of the box.
• 45th minute: Saint Kitts and Nevis nearly equalized just before halftime, but a goal-bound effort was cleared off the line.
• 56th minute: Tishan Hanley leveled the score with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner after a flowing team move.
• 82nd minute: Kimaree Rogers completed the comeback, heading home from a corner to silence the home crowd.

Tactical Story

Bonaire’s game plan was built on high energy and quick transitions. It worked well in the opening 20 minutes, but as the match wore on, their midfield dropped deeper and allowed Saint Kitts and Nevis to control possession. The visitors switched play effectively, stretching Bonaire from side to side and creating overloads in wide areas.

Saint Kitts and Nevis also improved their set-piece delivery in the second half. The winning goal came from a corner, but it was no accident: they had already sent several dangerous balls into the box before Rogers found the decisive header. Bonaire, meanwhile, struggled to keep the ball after taking the lead and were punished for sitting too deep.

Standout Players

Tishan Hanley was instrumental in the comeback, not only for his equalizing goal but also for his link-up play between midfield and attack. Kimaree Rogers made a decisive impact with the winning goal, timing his run perfectly from the corner. The Saint Kitts and Nevis goalkeeper also made a crucial save at 1-0 to keep the deficit manageable.

For Bonaire, Rilove Janga was the standout performer, taking his goal well and working hard against two physical center-backs. Their captain in midfield tried to drive the team forward, but Bonaire lacked the same intensity in the final half-hour.

Table and Campaign Impact

The 2-1 win is a valuable away result for Saint Kitts and Nevis, who move forward with confidence in their CONCACAF Nations League group. Coming from behind shows character and gives the squad belief that they can compete in tight matches both home and away.

Bonaire will be disappointed to lose a match they led, especially at home. The result leaves them needing to respond quickly in their next fixture. The positive for Bonaire is that they created chances and competed for long spells, but they must learn to manage leads better if they are to collect points in this campaign.
