CD Real Santander U19 produced a composed and disciplined performance on the road to defeat Flamengo Cucuta U19 2–0 in the Colombian U19 League on the evening of 12 June 2026. The visitors controlled large spells of the match and left no doubt about the result, securing a valuable away victory that will boost their position in the youth league standings.

Match Overview

Played at Flamengo Cucuta's home venue, the encounter began with the home side attempting to impose themselves early. However, CD Real Santander quickly settled into their rhythm, pressing high and disrupting Cucuta’s build-up play. The first half remained tight, with both defences largely on top, but Real Santander’s patience paid off just before the interval.

Key Moments

• 42nd minute – Opening goal: A swift counter‑attack caught Flamengo Cucuta off guard. The visitors’ forward latched onto a through ball and finished calmly past the keeper, making it 1–0 just before halftime.
• 68th minute – Second goal: Real Santander doubled their lead from a well‑worked set piece. A corner kick was met by a powerful header that left the home goalkeeper with no chance, sealing the 2–0 advantage.
• Late resistance: Flamengo Cucuta pushed forward in the final 20 minutes but lacked the cutting edge to break down a well‑organised Santander defence. The visitors held firm to record a clean sheet.

Tactical Story

CD Real Santander opted for a compact 4‑4‑2 formation that prioritised defensive solidity and quick transitions. They allowed Flamengo Cucuta possession in less dangerous areas and challenged them to break through a disciplined midfield block. When winning the ball, the visitors looked to release their pacey forwards in behind the Cucuta backline – a strategy that yielded the first goal. Flamengo Cucuta, by contrast, struggled to create clear chances from open play, often relying on long‑range shots that sailed wide or straight at the goalkeeper.

Standout Performer

The Real Santander central defender who scored the second goal was also outstanding at the back, making several crucial interceptions and aerial clearances. His leadership helped organise a defence that limited Flamengo Cucuta to only three shots on target. On the attacking end, the forward who opened the scoring showed excellent movement and composure.

Table Impact

The victory moves CD Real Santander U19 into a stronger position in the Colombian U19 League table, while Flamengo Cucuta U19 will look to bounce back quickly. For the home side, the defeat highlights a need for more creativity in the final third, especially when facing sides that defend deep and counter effectively.
