SD Atletico Nacional U19 produced a ruthless away performance in the Colombian U19 League, defeating Envigado U19 5-1 at the Estadio Polideportivo Sur on September 29, 2026. The visitors controlled the match from the opening whistle, combining sharp pressing with clinical finishing to secure one of their most emphatic results of the season. Envigado, who had hoped to use home advantage to climb the youth table, were overwhelmed in midfield and repeatedly exposed at the back.

Match Overview

The scoreline tells the story of a night when almost everything went right for Atletico Nacional’s youth side. From the first minute, the visitors pressed high and forced Envigado into hurried clearances. That intensity paid off inside the opening quarter-hour, and once the first goal arrived, the away team never looked like surrendering control. Envigado briefly threatened on the counter, but their defensive structure struggled to contain Nacional’s quick combinations through the middle and down the flanks.

By halftime, the contest was already slipping away from the hosts. Nacional added a second and third before the break, turning a competitive youth fixture into a display of attacking superiority. Envigado’s coaching staff made adjustments at the interval, and the home side did manage a consolation goal, but any hope of a comeback was extinguished almost immediately as Nacional restored their four-goal cushion and then added a fifth late on.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – Opening goal: Juan Camilo Ceballos latched onto a through ball and finished calmly past the Envigado goalkeeper to put Nacional 1-0 up.
• 27th minute – Doubling the lead: Andrés Perea doubled the advantage with a low strike from the edge of the box after a short corner routine.
• 41st minute – Third before the break: Ceballos grabbed his second of the night, converting a cross from the right with a first-time finish.
• 63rd minute – Envigado respond: Mateo Rivas pulled one back for the hosts, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the penalty area.
• 78th minute – Fourth for Nacional: Sebastián Guzmán restored the three-goal cushion with a composed finish on the counterattack.
• 85th minute – Fifth and final: Substitute Julián Angulo completed the scoring with a header from a deep free kick.

Tactical Story

Atletico Nacional U19 set up in a flexible 4-3-3 that became a 4-2-3-1 when out of possession. Their midfield trio pressed in coordinated waves, cutting off Envigado’s attempts to play out from the back. The hosts tried to build through the left channel, but Nacional’s right-back repeatedly stepped in to intercept and launch quick transitions. The away side’s ability to win the ball high up the pitch was the foundation for at least three of their goals.

Envigado, by contrast, struggled to maintain possession for long spells. Their young defenders were pulled out of position by Nacional’s fluid front three, and the midfield failed to track runners arriving late in the box. The home team’s consolation goal came from a rare moment of sustained pressure, but it was little more than a brief interruption in an otherwise one-sided contest. Nacional’s game management in the final 20 minutes was particularly impressive: they slowed the tempo, kept the ball, and still created chances at will.

Standout Players

Juan Camilo Ceballos was the night’s outstanding performer, scoring twice and constantly troubling Envigado’s centre-backs with his movement. His link-up play with the midfield also created space for others. Andrés Perea controlled the tempo in the middle of the park, while Sebastián Guzmán added energy and a goal from the right wing. For Envigado, Mateo Rivas was one of the few players who consistently looked dangerous, and his well-taken goal was a deserved reward for his persistence.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens Atletico Nacional U19’s position in the upper half of the Colombian U19 League table. Three points on the road, combined with a dominant goal difference, will boost their confidence as they push for a top-four finish and a place in the end-of-season playoffs. For Envigado U19, the defeat is a setback in their campaign, but the league’s long format offers time to recover. Their coaching staff will focus on defensive organisation and ball retention ahead of the next fixture.

Atletico Nacional’s youth academy has long been one of Colombia’s most productive, and this performance underlined why. The club’s ability to develop technically gifted attackers who can also press aggressively is evident in this group. Envigado, known for nurturing young talent, will need to regroup quickly. The 5-1 s
