Tactical Story

Dalian Juxing Shengheng set up in a possession-based 4-2-3-1, looking to dominate the ball through their central midfielders and create overloads on the flanks. For long periods, they succeeded in pushing Wuhan deep, but their final ball lacked the sharpness needed to break down a compact defensive block.

Wuhan Lianzhen, by contrast, were happy to concede territory and strike on the break. Their 4-4-2 mid-block limited space between the lines, and the pace of Zhang Yiming and Chen Rui repeatedly exposed Dalian’s high defensive line. The midfield duo of Zhao Lei and Sun Bo were instrumental, winning second balls and launching quick attacks that turned defence into offence within seconds.

Standout Players

Zhang Yiming (Wuhan Lianzhen): Opened the scoring with a composed finish and constantly threatened with his movement in behind.

Zhao Lei (Wuhan Lianzhen): The captain controlled the tempo, broke up play, and provided the assist for the second goal.

Liu Peng (Dalian Juxing Shengheng): The home side’s brightest attacking outlet, he took his equaliser well and never stopped running.

Zhou Kai (Wuhan Lianzhen): The goalkeeper made two crucial saves at 1-1 and 2-1, preserving his team’s lead when Dalian were pressing hardest.

Season Impact and What’s Next

The victory moves Wuhan Lianzhen onto a stronger footing in the group standings, keeping them in contention for the knockout rounds. For Dalian Juxing Shengheng, the defeat highlights the need for greater cutting edge at home, where they have now dropped valuable points.

Both sides return to Chinese Football Association Member Association Champions League action in the coming weeks. Wuhan Lianzhen will look to build on this impressive away result, while Dalian Juxing Shengheng must regroup quickly and improve their home form if they are to climb the table.
