Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic Cruise Past Wenzhou Professional Football Club with 2-0 Home Win

Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Wenzhou Professional Football Club in the Chinese Football League 2 on 18 September 2026. Goals in either half from Wang Qiang and Zhang Lei gave the home side a deserved three points, while a solid defensive display ensured Wenzhou left empty-handed after a frustrating afternoon in front of goal.

Match Overview

Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic started the match on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Wenzhou into early mistakes. The home side’s midfield trio controlled the centre of the pitch, and their quick passing created problems for a Wenzhou defence that struggled to cope with the pace of the game. The opener arrived in the 23rd minute when Wang Qiang latched onto a clever through ball and finished confidently into the bottom corner.

Wenzhou improved after the break and enjoyed a brief spell of pressure, but they were unable to turn possession into clear chances. Lanzhou doubled their lead in the 67th minute through Zhang Lei, whose powerful header from a corner effectively ended the contest. From there, the home side managed the game professionally and kept their opponents at arm’s length.

Key Moments

• 23rd minute: Wang Qiang opened the scoring with a low finish after a sharp counterattack.

• 52nd minute: Lanzhou’s goalkeeper was called into action for the first time, saving comfortably.
• 67th minute: Zhang Lei headed home from a corner to make it 2-0.

• 90th minute: Lanzhou saw out the closing stages with composure and a clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic lined up in a 4-3-3 and used their wide forwards to stretch Wenzhou’s back four. The high press was effective: Wenzhou’s defenders were rushed into long passes, and Lanzhou’s midfield recovered the second balls with ease. Wang Qiang’s goal came from exactly that kind of turnover, with Lanzhou transitioning from defence to attack in a matter of seconds.

Wenzhou Professional Football Club set up in a 4-2-3-1 but struggled to impose themselves. Their attacking midfielder dropped deep to collect the ball, which left the striker isolated. When they did get forward, Lanzhou’s centre-backs were aggressive and won the majority of duels. The second goal from a set piece was a fitting reward for Lanzhou’s dominance in the air.

Standout Players

Wang Qiang was a constant threat for Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic. His movement pulled defenders out of position, and his finishing was precise. Zhang Lei added the decisive second goal and was commanding in both boxes, while midfielder Liu Yang provided the assist for the opener and controlled the tempo throughout.

For Wenzhou, goalkeeper Zhao Peng prevented a heavier defeat with several important saves, and captain Sun Hao tried to drive his team forward from midfield. But too many of Wenzhou’s attacks broke down in the final third, and they rarely tested Lanzhou’s goalkeeper after the interval.

Table and Season Impact

The win strengthens Lanzhou Longyuan Athletic’s position in the Chinese Football League 2 standings and keeps them in the hunt for a promotion push. A home victory with a clean sheet is exactly the kind of result that builds momentum in a long season. Wenzhou Professional Football Club, meanwhile, remain under pressure after another away defeat. They will need to find more creativity and cutting edge in front of goal if they are to climb the table, while Lanzhou can look forward with confidence after a complete team performance.
