Hangzhou Linping Wuyue 0-0 Shanxi Chongde Ronghai: Defenses Prevail in League Two

Hangzhou Linping Wuyue and Shanxi Chongde Ronghai shared the points in a 0-0 draw in the Chinese Football League 2 on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Played at Linping Sports Center, the match was a cautious, tightly contested affair in which both goalkeepers and back lines came out on top.

With little separating the teams in the League Two standings, the draw reflected the balance of the contest. Hangzhou Linping Wuyue had slightly more of the ball, while Shanxi Chongde Ronghai carried a threat on the break, but neither side could produce the quality needed to unlock the opposing defense.

Match Overview

The first half was played at a measured tempo. Hangzhou looked to build through midfield and use their wide players to stretch Shanxi’s back four, but the visitors stayed compact and limited space between the lines. Shanxi’s best moments came from turnovers, with quick forward passes looking to release their lone striker.

The second half opened up slightly. Shanxi won a penalty in the 71st minute, only for Hangzhou goalkeeper Chen Yu to guess correctly and make a crucial save. That moment lifted the hosts, who pushed forward in search of a winner, but Shanxi’s defense stood firm and cleared several dangerous deliveries. A late header from a corner flashed wide, and the referee’s final whistle confirmed a hard-earned point for each side.

Tactical Story

Hangzhou Linping Wuyue set up in a 4-4-2 and tried to control possession, but Shanxi Chongde Ronghai’s 4-5-1 formation crowded the central areas. The visitors were happy to defend deep and counter through the channels, while Hangzhou struggled to find a consistent final pass. The penalty save was the defining moment of a game short on clear chances but high on tactical discipline.

Standout Players

Chen Yu was Hangzhou’s hero, making the penalty save and commanding his area throughout. Center-back Liu Yang also produced a composed display. For Shanxi, goalkeeper Zhang Lei was equally impressive, and midfielder Gao Peng worked tirelessly to break up play and launch counters.

League Impact

The draw gives both clubs a point in the Chinese Football League 2 table, where every result can shift the mood around a promotion or relegation battle. Hangzhou Linping Wuyue will be relieved to avoid defeat after the penalty, while Shanxi Chongde Ronghai will feel they did enough to win. Both teams will look to turn defensive solidity into three points in their next fixtures.
